2 Stone Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectStep 18 to 2 Gemstone Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectStep 18:  Now we are ready to add the gemstones to these earrings.  First you set two gemstones in your low wall settings.  This is done by placing the setting upside down on a table and placing the stone in position the setting, then one at a time, bending the tabs down to hold the gemstone in position.

Step 19:  Now make a figure 8 connector with 20 gauge wire.  Instructions for making a figure 8 connector can be found here.  Open the loops in the figure 8 to connect one of the gemstones to the middle loop in the bottom wire component then close both loops.

Step 20:  Now make or buy five medium sized jump rings.  Instructions for making a jump ring can be found here.  Use one of these jump rings to connect the second gemstone to the loop in the middle of the top wire component.  Closing the jump ring is easier if you use two bent chain nose pliers.

2 Stone Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectStep 21:  At this point we are ready to add the commercial ear wire finding.  Open the loop in the bottom of the ear wire finding and connect it to the loop at the top of the top wire component.  Close the loop with your bent chain nose pliers.

Step 22:  We finish these earrings by adding segments of commercial chain to the bottom wire component.   First, using one of your jump rings, connect a 4" segment of medium, round curb style chain to one of the outside loops in the bottom wire component.  Connect the opposite end of the chain to the outside loop on the opposite end of the bottom wire component.

Step 23:  Using another jump ring, connect a 2 1/2" segment of the same chain to one of the empty loops in the bottom wire component.  Using your final jump ring, connect the end of the 2 1/2" segment of chain to the last empty loop in the bottom wire component.  This completes your 2 gemstone Earrings.

In general when making jewelry using gemstones, we recommend  using either lever back or post style earrings that are held in place instead of the shepherd's hook style of ear wires shown here.  Unfortunately, we were out of post or lever back ear wires in sterling silver when we made these earrings.  We think that you will like these earrings in many different gemstone and wire combinations.
