2 Strand Wire & Beads Bracelet Jewelry Making Project long view

There are four unique wire components that must be made to complete this bracelet.  The first component, shown on the left hand side of this bracelet is the hook portion of the clasp.  The second component is the component that connects to the hook on one side and the bracelet strands on the other.  We call this component the hook-end component.  The third wire component that must be made is the four spacer bars that keep the 2 strands in this bracelet together.  The final wire component is the end component on the opposite side of the bracelet.  This end component forms the catch portion of the clasp and we call it the catch-end component.   We will begin making these wire components from the left hand side of the bracelet shown above, with the hook and the spacer bar.  After we have completed these components, we will make Step 1 to 2 Strand Wire & Beads Bracelet Jewelry Making Projectthe hook-end component and finally the catch-end component.

Step 1:  Using your flush cutter, cut one segment of wire 2 1/4" long and four segments 1 1/8" long.  The longer segment will be used to make the hook and the shorter segments will be used to make the spacer bars.

Step 2:  Make a loop in the end of each wire segment with the flush cut.  We used our Fine Step Jaw Pliers to make these loops.

Step 3:  Using your nylon jaw pliers, straighten each wire segment by pulling it Step 5 to 2 Strand Jewelry Wire & Beads Bracelet Jewelry Making Projectrepeatedly through the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers.

Step 4:  Position four pegs in your jig as shown above-right.  The two pegs on the left are for making the clasp, the two pegs on the right are for making the spacer bar.  Place the initial loop in your wire segment on the jig as shown.

Step 5:  Now wrap your wire around the peg as shown at left.  Push the wire with your finger tips, holding your finger as close to the peg in the jig as you can.  Step 6 to 2 Strand Jewelry Wire & Beads Bracelet Jewelry Making Project

Step 6:  At this point you can remove the small spacer bar wire component from your jig.  The wire component should appear as shown at right.  For making the clasp, you will need to continue making your clasp wire component.  Our instructions for making this clasp can be found starting here.  When Beginner's Jewelry Wire Claspcompleted your clasp should appear as shown at left.
