 Step
8: In order for the 2-1 component to be able to connect to the 18
gauge 3 hole spacer component, we need to modify the orientation of the
loops in the 2-1 component. We start this process by converting both of
the loops made on pegs 4 and 6 into eye loops. This is done by grasping
the start of each loop with the tips of your round nose pliers and
twisting. Visit here for a
picture of this jewelry making technique. When both loops are
converted, the wire component will appear as shown at right.
Step 9: Using your bent chain nose pliers, grasp each eye loop in
turn and rotate it 90 degrees. The picture shown at left is taken from
the side so that you can see the orientation of the two loops. When
rotating the loops, rotate one clock-wise and one counter-clockwise so
that both openings in the loops are on the same side. Step 10: This is a change from our earlier instructions. It
can be difficult to connect the 2-1 connector to the 3 loop spacer bar in
the position shown in Step 9. For this reason, in this step, we are
going to take our bent chain nose pliers and bend the two end loops as
shown at right. Bend one loop at a time.
Step 11: Now we are ready to connect the 2-1 connector to the 3 hole
spacer bar finding that we made. Open one of the loops using your
bent chain nose pliers and connect one end, then close that loop. To
connect the opposite end, you will need to open both the end Step 12: At this point we are ready to connect our bead string wire and start threading beads. This is done in the same way that we started with our bracelet. Connect a strand of Soft Flex or Soft Touch bead stringing wire 18 inches long to each of the three loops on one of the wire components that you completed in step 11. Use crimp beads and bead crimping pliers to permanently fasten the bead stringing wire to the loop. The technique for performing the crimp connection is shown here and here. |

With both loops open, connect the two components and then close both
loops. When properly connected, the wire component will appear as
shown at left. Assemble two combinations of the 2-1 connector and
the 3 hole spacer bar, one for each end of the necklace.
