Pearl Beads in 3 Strand Beaded Necklace Jewelry Making Project Step 16Step 16:  Because this is a choker length necklace, the length of the necklace is rather important and should be very close to the size of the wearer's neck.  The way we accomplish this is to make a chain at the end of the necklace where any link in the chain can be used as the catch for your clasp.  To make this chain, we start by positioning two 3/16" Super Pegs in your jig along with one regular metal peg, pegs 7, 8 and 9 as shown below-left.  Using a 2 1/2" segment of 20 gauge wire (1/2 hard wire is preferred), make a partial loop in one end of the wire.  Grasp this loop to help straighten the segment of wire.  Once the wire is straight, place the initial partial loop on peg 7 and wrap the wire around pegs 8 & 9 as shown.  Remove the wire from the jig.  Before wrapping either loop closed, connect the loop made around peg 9 to the open end loop in the 2-1 connector as shown below-right.

Onyx & Pearl Beads Choker Necklace Jewelry Making ProjectStep 17:  With these loops connected, then grasp the loop made around peg 9 with your bent chain nose pliers and hold it firmly (this preserves the round shape of the loop.)  While holding Onyx & Pearl Beads Choker Jewelry Making Projectthe loop made on peg 9 in your pliers wrap the wire tail 180 degrees.  Then flip the piece over and wrap that wire tail 180 degrees.  Cut the excess wire on both ends.  Squeeze the cut end of the wire flat preferably using bent closing pliers.  Add enough links of this chain to your necklace so that it can be comfortably worn by the intended wearer.  Having 1 -3 extra links on the end is better than having 1-2 too few links, so err on the side of a few extra links.  This completes your three Finished Onyx & Pearl Beads Choker Jewelry Making Projectstrand choker necklace.

On the following page we will provide directions for making a three strand bracelet with 8mm beads.  As  you can understand the spacing for the spacer bar wire components varies according to whether you are using 4mm, 6mm or 8mm beads and making these spacer bar wire components on our WigJig tools allows  you to accommodate these changes.
