Step 1: Please select here and print the template for the 3:1 wire component. Step 2: Straighten a segment of 18 gauge 1/2 hard wire about 5 inches long. (Please note that we are going to straighten the wire before we cut the wire. This allows us to hold the spool of wire or the coil of wire in one hand and straighten the wire using nylon jaw pliers.)
Step 3:
Cut a segment of wire
4 1/2 inches long. Cut the wire using your flush cutter. We
recommend that you cut the wire with the flat side of your flush cutter
toward the coil of wire. This will leave a flat cut on the coil of
wire so that you won't be stabbed by a sharp end of wire the next time
you use the coil of wire.
Step 4: Make a "P" loop in the end of your wire with the flush cut using your step jaw pliers. Step 5: Get your jig and four regular metal pegs. Position the pegs as shown below-right. Step 6: Remove pegs 3 and 4 and position the loop in your wire on peg 1see the pictures below-center. Step 7: Wrap your wire about peg 2 as shown below-right. Continue pushing the wire until it rests adjacent to the empty hole for peg 3.
