anvil |
A hard metal tool used as the base when hammering wire. Similar to a blacksmith's anvil in shape, but significantly smaller, an anvil is shown at right. Anvils are often used with a chasing hammer to harden jewelry wire components and can be used to flatten wire. View anvils in our store here. |

| Argentium Sterling Silver |
This is a new, patented alloy of silver and includes 92.5% silver just like sterling silver, but replaces some of the copper in sterling silver with germanium to provide tarnish resistance. Argentium Sterling Silver will tarnish, but it tarnishes at a slower rate than sterling silver and the resulting tarnish is light yellow in color and washes off with soap and water. Select here for a comparison of Argentium to other jewelry making wire. |
