In
order to be able to connect the top wire component to the next wire
component in the earrings you need to do a little work by hand. In
all the pictures shown you can't view the loops in the top wire component
for the simple reason that the loops are oriented so that they are
perpendicular to the rest of the earrings and therefore not viewable.
The progression for making the top wire component in an earring body is to first make an essentially triangular wire component using three pegs on your WigJig jewelry making jig as shown below-left and center-left. Then you use your round nose pliers to convert both the left and right loops in this component into eye loops as shown center-right. The technique for making a "P" loop into an eye loop is depicted here. The last step in making the top wire component for earrings is to use your bent chain nose pliers to twist the eye loops 90 degrees as shown below-right.
The power in this approach is that there are a variety of ways of making the top wire component and a similar variety of ways of making the bottom wire component. These two easy to make components can then be easily connected to form an earring body. This technique will allow the jewelry designer to make an almost endless variety of earrings that are all relatively easy to make. We suggest that you consider developing your own unique combination of top and bottom wire components. |
