Step 1: All three wire components can be made using 18 gauge wire. Soft wire is preferred. Using your flush cutter, cut two segments of wire 2 1/2" long for the smallest Flemish Spiral wire component, two segments of wire 3 1/4" long for the middle wire component and two segments of wire 4" long for the largest wire component. Step 2: Using your fine step jaw pliers, make a loop in one end of each segment. Chose the end of the wire segment with the flush cut for making the loop.
Step 3: Now we need to straighten the wire. Grasp the
wire with your thumb and the index finger on your non-dominant hand and
repeatedly pull the wire through the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers.
Do this until each
Step 4: Position two 3/16" Super Pegs, pegs 2 and 3, two 1/4" Super Pegs, pegs 6 and 7, and two 5/16" Super Pegs, pegs 10 and 11, along with six regular metal pegs, pegs 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 12 in your jig as shown at right. Step 5: Place the initial loop from one of the 2 1/2" segments of wire on peg 1 and wrap the wire around peg 2, 3 and 4 as shown. Do this for both 2 1/2" segments of wire. Step 6: Place the initial loop from one of the 3 1/4" segments of wire on peg 5 and wrap the wire around pegs 6, 7 and 8 as shown. Do this for both segments of 3 1/4" wire.
Step 7: Place the initial loop from one of the 4" segments of
wire on peg 9 and wrap the wire around pegs 10, 11 and 12 as shown.
Do this for both segments of 4" wire.
Step 8: Remove each wire segment from your jig. It
should appear as shown at right.
Step 9: Using your step jaw pliers, make a loop in your wire at the point where the "U" shaped bend was made around the final peg in that pattern. When completed, your wire component should appear as shown at left. These instructions continue on the next page. |
