Step 7 for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making ProjectStep 7:  Add regular metal peg 4 and wrap the wire part way around peg 4.  (Ultimately we will complete a loop in the wire at this point, but peg 3 is in our way at this point so we aren't ready to complete the loop at this Step 8A for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making Projecttime.)

Step 8:  Remove the wire from your jig and it will appear as shown at Step 8B for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making Projectleft.  Using your round nose pliers or step jaw pliers, position one jaw of your pliers where peg 4 was and wrap the wire around this jaw while Step 9 for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making Projectgriping the wire component in the pliers. 

Step 9:  Cut the excess wire and close the final loop with your bent chain nose pliers.  You can use Step 9A for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making Projectthe hook wire component as shown at left, or you can continue by opening one of the loops and wrapping 22 or 24 gauge wire around one of the loops and the center wire.  Complete about 2-3 wraps of wire and cut the excess.  Close the loop with your bent chain nose pliers.  In the finished clasp shown at right, you can see this wire wrap. 

Step 10 for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making ProjectStep 10:  Now we are ready to make the catch portion of the clasp.  Using the second 3 inch segment of wire and your jig, position a regular metal peg and a 3/16" Super Peg in your jig as shown at right.  Place the initial loop in your wire on the regular metal peg and wrap the wire around the 3/16" Super Peg as shown.Step 11 for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making Project

Step 12:  Remove the wire from your jig. 

Step 13:  Position the jaws of your round nose pliers or your bent chain Step 13 for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making Projectnose pliers into the two loops that were around the regular metal peg.  Grasp the wire component in your pliers and hold it firmly in your non-dominant hand.  With the fingers of your dominant hand, wrap the wire tail around the wire component about 2 times. 

Step 18 for Freshwater Pearl Necklace Jewelry Making ProjectStep 14:  Cut the excess wire.  Squeeze the cut end of the wire flat with your bent chain nose pliers.  The completed catch will appear as shown at right.
