Step 9 to Bead Still My Heart Jewelry Wire Earrings with Beads Jewelry Making Project

Step 9:  In order to complete the heart, we recommend that you wrap fine gauge wire around the initial and final loops in the heart.  Functionally, you are using fine gauge wire to glue or solder the two ends of the heart together.  This step is performed with about 3 inches of 24 or 26 gauge round wire or with 3 inches of 21 gauge 1/2 round wire.  Begin by making a "U" shaped bend about 3/4" from one end of your fine gauge wire.  Position the bottom of the "U" shaped bend on one side of the heart, and wrap the shorter wire segment around the heart three times as shown at right.  You may need to use your bent chain nose pliers to squeeze the three wraps of wire together as shown here.Step 10 to Bead Still My Heart Earrings Jewelry Making Project with Wire and Beads

Step 10:  Now wrap the longer wire tail around the point where the wire from the initial loop crosses the wire from the final loop as shown at right.  Wrap the wire around about Step 11 to Bead Still My Heart Wire and Beads Jewelry Making Project2 1/2 times as shown at left.

Step 11:  At this point we need to wrap the wire tail around the second side of the heart three times.  Use your bent chain nose pliers to squeeze the wraps so that they are tightly together.  When completed your Step 12 to Bead Still My Heart wire and Beads Jewelry Making Projectheart should appear as shown at right.

Step 12:  Cut the excess wire, leaving about 1/32" of wire extra.  This should be just enough wire so that after you squeeze the excess wire flat againstStep 13 to Bead Still My Heart Wire and Beads Jewelry Making Project the heart with your bent chain nose pliers, that the wire will end on the underside of the wire where it will be less visible.  When completed your heart should appear as shown at left.

Step 13:  At this point we need to make four figure 8 connectors using 20 or 22 gauge wire.  Instructions for making these figure 8 connectors can be found here.

Step 14:  Cut two segments of commercial chain about 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" long with an odd number of links in the chain.  Having an odd number of links in the chain is very important as it allows for a single center link in the chain, that we will use later to connect our ear wire finding.

Step 15:  Connect two figure 8 connectors to your commercial chain, one to each end link.
