Step 8: At this point we need to make the loop at the end of the
necklace or bracelet. We use this loop to connect to the clasp.
This loop could also be used as the loop for the clasp from the opposite
side of the necklace to connect with. Making this loop begins by
grasping the wire with your bent chain nose pliers just beyond the end of
the hemp and making a bend of about 90 degrees in the wire as shown
at right. |

Step 9: Grasp the wire with your round nose pliers as close to the
bend in the vertical wire segment (shown in Step 8) as possible and make a
loop with the wire. This is a two step process as you will be able
to make a 180 degree bend with your round nose pliers in the first step
and will then need to reposition your round nose pliers to complete the
loop. When completed the loop should appear as shown at right.
If the loop is not centered on the wire leaving the hemp, adjust the loop
with your round nose pliers so that it is centered.
If you intend to connect the hemp or leather to a clasp. This is
the point where you slide the loop in the clasp into the loop in the wire
that you just completed. |

| Step 10: When you have your clasp in position, tightly grasp the loop in the wire with your bent chain nose pliers. By holding the loop in your bent chain nose pliers you preserve the round shape of the loop. While holding the loop, wrap the wire tail around the wire segment from the hemp as tightly as possible. Keep the wire tail that you are wrapping perpendicular to the wire that you are wrapping it around. |
