The first alternative design that we will discuss is the alternative shown
at right. These earrings replace the jump ring used to connect the
small square wire component to the large square wire component with a
medium square wire component. The end result is that this third
square wire component hangs naturally at a 90 degree angle to the other
two
The earrings are made by making the three square wire components using the
steps that were described in pages 2 through 4. When it is time to
assemble these earrings, you use the new square wire component to connect
the larger and smaller wire components made earlier instead of the jump
ring. The easiest way to make this connection is to open the loop on
the middle sized square wire component and position both the larger and
smaller wire components in this opened loop, then close that loop.
