Mod-Classic Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectStep 1:  Making the body of these earrings requires 7 inches of wire.  For advanced beginners, we recommend using 20 gauge wire.  For more advanced wire workers we recommend 18 gauge wire because it makes the earring body stand out a little bit more.  Half-hard wire will work better than soft wire if it is available, although soft wire will work.  Begin by cutting a 7" length of wire to make your earring body.  Please select here to view our instructions for cutting wire.

Step 2:  Using your fine step jaw pliers, make a "P" loop in the end of the wire with the flush cut.  Please select here to view our instructions for making a "P" loop.

Step 3:  Grasp the loop in the end of the wire and straighten the wire by repeatedly pulling it through the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers.  Please select here to view our instructions for straightening wire.

Step 4 to Mod-Classic Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making DesignStep 4:  We are going to make the earring body for these earrings using one of our WigJig tools.  In order for the wire component to lay as flat as possible, we will flip the wire component over after making each loop.  You can view and print the peg pattern for these earrings on our WigJig Centaur here.  In this peg pattern we show both the normal orientation and the flipped over orientation.  Making these earrings is slightly complex because we begin with two pegs and add pegs to the pattern as we go.  This will require us to change between the normal pattern and the flipped pattern for each new loop.  Begin, by positioning two metal pegs in your jig and adding your initial loop to the end peg in the pattern as shown below-left.
