Alternative Design. The earrings shown at right used hammered wire at the bottom to hold the beads on the wire. This is a very simple design to make but does require a chasing hammer and anvil. |
Step 1: Cut and make a loop in a 3" segment of 20 gauge Rose
Silver-plate Artistic Wire. Use round nose pliers or Fine Step Jaw
Pliers to make this loop.
Step 2: Straighten the wire by holding the initial loop you just made. Step 3: Position two metal pegs and one 1/4" Super Peg in your jig as shown at right. Step 4: Place the initial loop that you made on peg 1 and wrap the wire as shown. |
Step 5: Remove the wire from the jig and cut the wire where it touched peg 1 and peg 3. This will remove the initial loop and leave you with straight wire Sept 6: Add a bead to both bottom wire segments. Slide the beads up, beyond where the wire crosses over. Step 7: Hammer the last 1/4" of wire on both bottom segments with your chasing hammer and anvil. Don't over hammer, but hammer enough that the wire is about 1.5 to twice as wide as the un-hammered wire. Step 8: Slide the beads down until they rest against the hammered wire. Step 9: Add your ear wire finding to the top of the earring by opening the loop in the ear wire finding and adding the wire, then closing the loop in the finding. |
