Step 1:  Cut a segment of 18 gauge soft wire 6.5 inches long.

Step 2:  Make a loop in the end of this wire using your round nose pliers or Fine Step Jaw Pliers.

Step 3:  Using your nylon jaw pliers straighten the wire by repeatedly pulling the wire through the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers while you hold the loop in tWigJig Ring Jewelry Making Project Peg Patternhe wire.

Step 4:  Position a regular metal peg and a 1/4" Super Peg about 2.4 inches apart for a size 7 ring.  WigJig Ring Jewelry Making Project Step 5Adjust the distance as necessary to get the size ring you require.  Place your initial loop in your wire on peg 1 and wrap the wire around peg 2 as shown above-right.

WigJig Ring Jewelry Making Project Step 6Step 5:  Remove the wire from your jig and grasp the loop made around peg 2 with your chain nose pliers and bend the wire as shown at right.  The vertical wire segment that you bent, should point to the center of the circle of wire made around peg 2.

Step 6:  Now we need to bend the other end of the wire down in a similar WigJig Ring Jewelry Making Projectmanner.  Again, grasp the loop made on peg 2 with your chain nose or bent chain nose pliers and bend the wire down.  Both wire segments should be parallel to one another and should both point to the center of the loop.

Step 7:  At this point the initial loop is pointing toward the other wire segment.  WigJig Ring Jewelry Making Project Step 8We need to grasp this initial loop and twist in 180 degrees so that it is pointing away from the other wire segment.  You can see the desired orientation of this loop at left.

Step 8:  We are now ready to make a loop in the end of the wire at the same point on the wire as the initial loop.  Using the initial loop as your guide, made a loop in the end wire segment.  The goal is that the end loop and the initial loop should point away from each other and should be the same distance from the loop made around the 1/4" Super Peg, peg 2.  See the picture at right.
