Step 7: When you add the 8th peg, wrap the wire around that peg and lift it over the first peg before relaxing your grip. Your goal is that with no pressure applied that the wire will rest adjacent to the inside of the first peg. Step 8: Wrap the wire completely around the first peg as shown.
Step 9: Remove the wire from the jig and cut the excess
Step 10: Using your bent chain nose pliers, close the final loop. If you have done everything correctly, your wire component will appear as shown at left. If the initial and final loops don't overlap perfectly, you can do some "hand finishing" to gently bend the wire component so that the beginning and ending loops overlap as shown. Step 11: You will need to flatten and harden the wire component by squeezing it in the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers. This sets the design. Be sure to squeeze each loop in the piece. After this step you may need to do some more hand finishing.
Step 12: Now we are ready to start on the small round wire
component. Straighten then cut a segment of 18 gauge wire 4 inches
long. Make a loop in one end of this wire with your fine step jaw
pliers or your round nose pliers. Straighten this wire by holding
Step 13: Position pegs 9 and 10 in your jig as shown at right. (These pegs are spaced on the second ring from the center of your jig, with one empty hole between each metal peg.) Place your initial loop on peg 9 and wrap your wire around peg 10. Continue pushing your wire until with no pressure applied the wire will rest adjacent to the empty hole for peg 11. |
