Round Jessica's Earrings Jewelry Making Project Made with Tanzanite Beads

The steps involved in making these earrings start by making three loops, one with a 2" diameter, one with a 1.5" diameter and one with a 1"diameter.  After we  have made each circle of wire, we need to wrap fine gauge wire around the top of each circle of wire to hold it in shape and to create the loop that is used to hang the next smaller circle of wire.  Then we need to connect each circle of wire, one to another and then to the ear wire at the top and finally we need to hang a bead from the smallest circle of wire.  The steps involved in making these earrings begin here.

Step 1:  Cut a segment of 16 gauge soft wire 7 1/2 inches long.

Peg Pattern for making a 2" Diameter Circle of wire for Jessica's Earrings jewelry design. Step 2:  Make a loop in one end of this wire using your step jaw pliers or your round nose pliers.  Select here for instructions in how to make a loop in 16 gauge wire.

Step 3:  Hold the loop and straighten the wire by pulling it repeatedly through the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers.

Step 4:  Position one regular peg and a 2" Larger Round Super Peg in your jig as shown at left.  Place the initial loop in your wire on the regular metal peg and wrap the wire completely around the Larger Round Super Peg.

Step 5:  Bend the wire against the regular metal peg and back as shown above-left.

Step 6:  Remove the wire from your jig and using your step jaw pliers or your round nose pliers, complete the second loop in the end of the wire.

Step 7:  Cut the excess wire from the end loop in your wire and close this final loop with your bent chain nose pliers.

Step 8:  Remove the Larger Round Super Peg from your jig.  Hold the beginning and ending loops together, either with the fingers of your non-dominant hand, or with your step jaw pliers and position the wire component back around the Larger Round Super Peg.  Using a nylon hammer or a rawhide hammer, hammer the wire against the Larger Round Super Peg all the way around.  This will work better if you set the bottom of the Larger Round Super Peg on a cutting board or Wacketdown and hammer the wire on the top of the Larger Round Super Peg.  Hammering sets the round shape of the wire and hardens the wire.  Reposition the Larger Round Super Peg so that you can hammer as much of the circular wire loop as possible.  This will complete the 2" diameter circle of wire.  Don't worry that the two loops in the circle won't overlap at this point.  We will take care of this in a latter step.  Set this component aside.
