![]() Step 17A: Grasp the wire segment that you just bent down with your bent chain nose pliers, 1 inch from the center of the spiral dangle and make a 90 degree bend. Using your round nose pliers, make an open loop at this point just as you did in step 15A. Cut the excess wire. Step18A: Using a 6 or 8mm bead and a head pin, make two bead dangles and hang the bead dangles one from each of the open loops you just completed. The jewelry making technique for making a bead dangle is described here. The bead dangles are attached to the open loops by opening and closing the loops as described here. Step 19A: The final step in making these earrings is to attach your ear wire to the top of the earring. For the earrings at right, we made our ear wire out of the same brass 20 gauge wire that we used the make the earring body. The technique used to attach the ear wire is the same technique used to open and close the loops when adding the bead dangle. This completes your modified Spiral Link Earrings. We don't think you will find any like them in a store, furthermore, because of the way we made the spiral dangle, we believe that these earrings will withstand the baby test -- if a baby were to accidentally grab the earring, it wouldn't pull apart.
