Step 15:  To make the earrings shown at right with the low wall bezel finding and 8mm gemstone, you first need to assemble the gemstone and finding.  This is very, very easy to do.  Our step-by-step instructions for setting a gemstone in the low wall bezel finding can be found by selecting here.  Once you have set the gemstone, you connect the loop in the top of the finding with the loop at the bottom of the Square Knot wire component with a simple jump ring.  In these earrings we used a medium jump ring that was made using the middle step of the Fine Step Jaw Pliers as shown by selecting here.  Connecting the two loops was done by opening the jump ring, sliding it into position in both loops and then closing the jump ring.  Instructions for opening and closing jump rings can be found by selecting here. 

Step 16:  Now we are ready to attach the ear wire to the top of these earrings.  If you choose to use a commercial ear wire, all you will need to do is to open the loop in the ear wire and connect it to the top loop in the Square Knot wire component then close the loop in the ear wire.  If you choose to make your own custom ear wire like the one shown at right, we suggest adding a 4mm bead in a color that compliments the color of the gemstone.  We used a 4mm Swarovski Aqua Bicone bead with our ear wire.  Instructions for making this ear wire can be found by selecting here.  Because this ear wire uses a wrapped loop to close the loop in the bottom of the ear wire, you must connect the loop in the ear wire to the loop in the Square Knot wire component before wrapping the loop closed.  This completes your first Square Knot Gemstones and Beads Earring.  Follow the same steps to make a second earring.

Alternative Designs:

We have two alternative designs for our Square Knot Earrings Jewelry Making Project.  The option shown on the left are our Small Square Knot Beaded Earrings and the option shown on the right are our Large Square Knot Beaded Earrings.  These two options use beads instead of gemstones.  Both are shown here with commercial ear wires instead of the custom made ear wire in the above earrings.  Headpins were used to connect the beads to the bottom of the Square Knot wire component.  The technique for making the bead dangle at the bottom is described here or here.
