| Step 1: This project differs from our generic
instructions for the start of any jewelry making project in one simple
area. We use a wrapped loop at the top of these earrings instead of
the simple "P" loop described in our generic instructions. Begin by
cutting a segment of 20 gauge soft wire 4 inches long.
Step 2: Grasp the wire with your bent chain nose pliers 5/8" from the end of the wire with the flush cut and bend the wire about 80 degrees. Step 3: Using your round nose pliers make a loop in the wire at the bend, but on the 5/8" side. This is a two step process as you will need to move your round nose pliers and re-grip the wire to complete the loop. Step 4: Grasp this loop in your bent chain nose pliers (this preserves the shape of the loop), and wrap the wire tail of the loop around the long wire segment one time. Step 5: Cut the excess wire with your flush cutter. Step 6: Using two chain nose or bent chain nose pliers, grasp the loop in one pair of pliers and using the other pair of pliers squeeze the wire tail flat. |
|
| Step 7: Place one metal peg (peg 1), one 5/16" Super Peg (peg 2) and one 1/2" Super Peg into your jig as shown at right. Place the initial loop in your wire on peg 1 and wrap the wire around the pegs as shown. (To see the peg pattern for this design on a round jig like our WigJig Centaur, Cyclops or Electra please visit page 10.) |
