| Step 15: Now we are ready to add the ear wire
finding and finish this earring. This is done by opening the loop in
the ear wire finding using bent chain nose pliers, adding the initial loop
in the treble clef earring body, and then closing the loop in the ear wire
finding. When making a pair of earrings, it is suggested that you
orient the earring body so that they are mirror images when worn. An
example of this is that the two left-most earrings shown at right are
oriented to be mirror images.
Step 16: The final task in making these earrings is to cut a piece of 22, or 24 gauge wire to be used to wrap around the point where the vertical wire segment crosses the S shaped wire segment to keep your beads separated. Step 17: Straighten this wire segment and in the center of the segment, use your round nose pliers to make a "U" shaped bend in the wire. Step 18: Position this "U" shaped bend at the point where the two wire segments cross and bend both legs of the "U" toward and past one another to make a tight wrap. Wrap this wire around about 2 full wraps. Step 19: Cut the excess wire and use your bent chain nose pliers to squeeze the cut end flat so that it doesn't protrude. Make a second earring using these same steps. |
