Step 7: Remove both wire components from the jig. At
this point your two wire components should appear as shown at right. Step 8: Cut the excess wire on both components using your flush cutter then close that loop using your bent chain nose pliers. You can find instructions for closing a loop here. At this point the catch portion of the clasp is finished. The catch is the wire component that was made using the 3/16" Super Peg. Set that component aside and our instructions will continue with how to complete the hook portion.
Step 10: At this point we need to grasp the wire component
about 1/8" from the end and bend the wire about 45%. After
completing this bend your wire
Step 11: We need to make a second 45 degree bend in the wire
component also using our bent chain nose pliers. We make this
second 45% bend about 3/16" from the beginning and ending loops.
Once you have completed this bend, the wire component should appear as
shown at right.
Step 12: To finish the hook, you use your fine step jaw pliers on the second step and bend the wire component around the second step of the pliers to form the hook. When completed the hook should appear as shown at left. |
