Wrapped Chain Bracelet with Beads Jewelry Making ProjectFirst, we will  make the bracelet shown on the prior page since the links in the bracelet are stronger and more permanent.

Step 1:  Using nylon jaw pliers, straighten a segment of 22 gauge wire, while still attached to the spool, about 7 inches long.  1/2 hard wire is preferred.  For the bracelet shown, we used Artistic Wire's Non-Tarnish Brass wire.

Step 2:  Cut three 2 1/4 inch segments of the straightened wire.  Then straighten another 7 inch segment of wire and cut another three segments of wire.  Continue this process until you have 16 segments of wire each Step 3 to Wrapped Chain Bracelet with Beads Jewelry Making Project2 1/4" long.

Step 3:  Using your bent chain nose pliers, grasp a segment of wire about 9/16" from one end and bend the wire against the jaws of the pliers to an angle of about 90 degrees as shown at right.  Do this for all 16 segments of wire.Step 4 to Wrapped Chain Bracelet with Beads Jewelry Making Project

Step 4:  Now we need to make a loop in the wire at the edge of the bend.  This is done with our round nose pliers.  You can view how to hold the wire in your round nose pliers here.  Making this loop is a two step process.  Try to make all your loops the same size by grasping the wire at the same point on your round nose pliers.  Do this for all 16 segments of wire.  If possible, try to make your loops very slightly larger than the first step on your step jaw pliers.  This will be important in Step 10 described on the next page.

Step 5 to Wrapped Chain Bracelet with Beads Jewelry Making ProjectStep 5:  Using your flush cutter, cut the excess wire as shown at right so that we have an eye loop on the end of our wire.  Remember to cut the wire so that you will have a flush or flat end on the wire by positioning your flush cutter with the flat side toward the finished piece.  Do this for all 16 segments of wire.

Step 6 to Wrapped Chain Bracelet with Beads Jewelry Making ProjectStep 6:  Using your bent chain nose pliers, close the loop that you just completed.  You can find instructions on closing loops here.  Do this for all 16 segments of wire.
