Jewelry Making -- Spiral-Diamond Earrings

Step 10:  Remove the jewelry wire from the jig.  Using your fingers, or nylon jaw pliers, flatten the piece.  The piece should now appear as shown below left.

Step 11:  We now need to finish the spiral diamond wire component by making a spiral in using the wire tail.  Begin by making a loop in the end of the wire.  Make the spiral using the techniques shown in Step 3 on page 16

Step 12:  Now we need to begin making the bead link wire component.  Begin by cutting and straightening a piece of wire 1 1/2 inches long.  Make a loop in the end of the wire.  Using the instructions provided here, make this loop into an eye loop.

Step 13:  Add a bead to this wire and using the instructions provided in step 9 on page 15, make a loop above the bead.  Orient this second loop perpendicular to the first loop.  If you are comfortable making a wrapped bead link from page 11, you can use that component here.

Step 14:  Now open the top and bottom loop on the bead link that you completed in step 13 and add the spiral-diamond wire component to the bottom and the ear wire finding to the top.  Close both loops.  Remember to open and close the loops using the techniques discussed in page 6.  This is your finished earring.

Step 15:  Complete this jewelry making project by making a second earring, orienting the spiral in the mirror image position.
