| Helpful Hint: This wire component is made with two diagonal axes. One axis includes the loops made on pegs 1 and 4, while the other axis includes the loops made on pegs 2 and 3. (See pattern on page 5.) The peg 1-4 axis has an open loop on both ends of the diagonal. The peg 2-3 axis has a closed loop on both ends of the diagonal. This is important. When using this piece, connect the wrapped bead links to the peg 2-3 axis with closed loops on either end as shown at right. The peg 1-4 axis with open loops is called the weak axis of this wire component. The peg 2-3 axis with closed loops on both ends is the "strong axis" and this is the axis to use when incorporating this component into jewelry. |

| The technique for making these earrings is to make two of the Four Leaf Clover wire components using the instructions from page 5. Next, you thread one 3mm round bead, one 8mm bead, and the second 3mm bead on a 2" head-pin. Attach this combination to one of the loops in the strong axis of the Four Leaf Clover wire component using the wrapped bead link. The technique for doing this is shown here and described in greater detail in our online book "Wire Design Basics". Now attach the combination Four Leaf Clover wire component and bead dangle to the post ear-wire with ball and loop finding. This is done by opening the loop in the finding, adding the opposite corner of the Four Leaf Clover wire component and then closing the loop in the finding. Make two earrings using the same techniques for both. |
