Jewelry Making Techniques

I wanted to call these earrings "Grandfather's Beard" since that is what they look like to me, but the boss protested that women won't relate to that name.  Hence they are now Beaded Swag Earrings. 

This earrings jewelry making project is relatively easy to make.  On the last page of this series, we will provide several alternative configurations that can be made from this same basic design.

Beaded Swag Earrings


        Jewelry Making Supplies:

Tools Required:
  • 6 inches of 18G soft wire
  • 6 inches of 24 or 26G wire (optional)
  • 14 head pins
  • 14 four mm crystal beads
  • Two ear wires
  • 3 inches of medium chain

  • Fine Step Jaw Pliers

  • Flush Cutter

  • Chain Nose or Bent Chain Nose Pliers

  • WigJig Cyclops or Electra

  • 7/8 inch Super Peg (from Large Round Super Peg set)

  • 3 metal pegs

  • 30 minutes of free time

Jewelry Making Skills Required:

  • Use of a WigJig to make wire components.

  • Ability to make bead dangle. 

  • Ability to open and close loops.
