Step 1: Begin by cutting and straightening a piece of 20G wire five inches long. Step 2: Make a wrapped loop in one end of this 20G wire. The technique for making a wrapped loop is described here and on the following page (page 7). This loop must be large enough to fit over the peg in the jig you are using. Step 3: Place the loop in the wire over peg 1 and wrap the wire around the pegs on the jig as shown at left. Be sure to bend the wire enough so that it relaxes back into its finished position. Step 4: Remove the wire from the jig and harden the wire where it wrapped around pegs 2 and 3 by hammering lightly with a chasing hammer and anvil. A slight deformation of the wire is desirable. |

Step 5: Now grasp the wire with your chain nose or bent chain nose pliers on the wire segment between pegs 1 and 2 as shown at left. Hold the wire firmly and bend the wire segment from this point to the loop formerly around peg 1 so that it is vertical. |
