Spiral Ear Wire Jewelry Making TechniqueThis jewelry making technique is the technique for making the spiral, post-style ear wire show here.  This ear wire must be made with soft wire, either gold, gold-filled, sterling silver or anti-tarnish sterling silver.  Silver and gold-plated wire are not recommended.  Artistic Wire is not appropriate because of the presence of dyes in this wire. 

This is a very easy earring to make and is a project that is suitable for beginners.

Jewelry Making Supplies:

Tools Required:

  • 8 inches of 20G soft wire . 
  • Two or more 6 mm beads.
  • Two head-pin findings. 
  • Two ear clutch findings.
  • Other beads as desired

 

  • Round Nose Pliers
  • Flush Cutter
  • Chain Nose or Bent Chain Nose Pliers
  • Bent Closing Pliers
  • Any WigJig acrylic jig
  • WigJig Spiral Maker for the jig used.
  • Cup Bur
  • 20 minutes of free time

Skills Required:

  • How to use a WigJig jewelry making tool and Spiral Maker to make spirals.
  • How to make a bead dangle with beads and a head-pin finding.
