nice hoop earrings with wire is slightly more difficult than one might
initially think. The wire that goes through the ear must be 20
gauge, but 20 gauge wire is a little thin for making a strong earring
body. Here is a way to make hoop earrings that meet both the
requirement for a strong earring body and for a thinner wire going
through the pierced ear.
There is one caution about making earrings like this out of colored wire. The dyes in the colored wire may contain carcinogenic chemicals. It is unlikely, but possible, that wearing colored wire earrings over a prolonged period of time could cause the wearer a problem. Please be aware of this if you decide to make earrings for pierced ears with colored wire. These earrings aren't the strongest earrings, but they are plenty strong for personal wear.
