WigJig Newsletter for March 2, 2003

We are continuing to improve our newsletter, so please feel free to provide feedback at custsrv@wigjig.com.

NEW PRODUCTS:
In the last newsletter we mentioned that we had added seven new colors of Swarovski Crystal Pearls.  Since that newsletter was published, we have updated the pictures for these items in our Internet Store.  You can view our selection of these glass pearls here.  Shown below are two bracelets made with two of these new colors of crystal pearls.  Both of these bracelets were strung on Soft Touch using crimp beads.

Since the last newsletter, we have also added 18 colors of 6mm Swarovski Square (actually a Cube) Crystal Beads.  You can find our selection of these new beads here.  Once in our Internet Store, please select either the picture of the bead, or the name of the bead to see a larger photo of these beads.  In the bracelet shown below, we used the Amethyst square beads with some medium chain and 18G gold wire.  For instructions on how to make this bracelet see below, it is our Free Design project for this newsletter.

FREE JEWELRY MAKING DESIGN:
With every newsletter we try to provide a free design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  This week's free design is the Swarovski Amethyst Cube Bracelet shown at right and below.  This bracelet uses eight 6mm Swarovski Amethyst Square Beads (item 2672), with a gold-filled 6mm magnetic clasp (item 0337), a guard chain made from fine gold-filled wire (item 2609), and a wire link that can be made on any of our WigJigs using 18G gold-filled soft wire (item 0261).  The Amethyst beads are strung on 22G 1/2 hard gold filled wire (item 1013) using a technique called the wrapped bead link.    Between the wrapped bead links are six links of a medium, round, gold filled chain (Item 2606).  The technique for making the wrapped bead link is provided here, and is described in greater detail in our online book, "Wire Design Basics" which is on sale this week.  Select here for the complete instructions on how to make this bracelet.

Jewelry Making Technique of the week:
Our WigJig University wire-working technique for this newsletter is how to make the wrapped bead link used in making the Amethyst Cube Bracelet shown above.  The wrapped bead link, shown at right, is an important skill for connecting findings, wire and bead components into finished jewelry projects.  Select either the picture or the text at right to visit the free instructions for this technique in WigJig University.  As indicated above, we also have more detailed instructions in our online book "Wire Design Basics" which is on sale at present for $3 off.

Questions:
In this section of our newsletter, we will try to answer recurring customer questions.  The question this week is what is can I save an order in the WigJig Internet Store and come back to it later.  Must I complete an order in one sitting?  The answer to this sometimes depends on whether in Internet server woke up on the right side of the computer room.  When everything is working correctly, you should be able to add items to your shopping cart in our Internet Store and leave our site to come back as much as a day or more later.  Because of the Internet Cookie that our server leaves on your computer, when you return it should recognize your computer and show you the items still in your shopping cart when you select the "View Basket" command.  Sometimes when you come back after an extended break, you will need to select the command "Restore Prior Order" or "Restore Order".  This command should bring back your shopping cart full of the items you had added.  PLEASE NOTE: We occasionally have problems with our Internet Store because too many customers have shopping carts in this pending status, waiting for them to return and complete the order.  To recover from this problem, we sometimes have to delete all the pending orders to restore our store to normal function.  For this reason, we ask anyone who wants to come back later to complete an order to print a copy of their shopping cart before they leave our store.  With the printed copy, you can always call us at 800-579-WIRE to complete an order that was inadvertently deleted.  We are always happy to take your order over the phone.

This WigJig jewelry making newsletter is provided as part of WigJig University.  We try to provide interesting jewelry projects using beads, jewelry wire and other jewelry supplies.  We hope that these pictures will provide you enough information for you to complete this project.  Some of the skills and jewelry making techniques have not been discussed here.  For beginners, we suggest that you visit our Beginners Start Here pages. These pages discuss the skills necessary for making jewelry in the detail that beginners need. We also suggest that beginners to jewelry making might need to visit the WigJig University College of Jewelry Making Techniques for additional information about some of the skills and techniques shown.

Most, but not all of the jewelry supplies shown here can be purchased in our WigJig store.  We try to have a complete selection of jewelry supplies in our store including chain, wire, glass beads, findings, watches, tools, etc.
