WigJig Newsletter for March 16, 2003

We are continuing to improve our newsletter, so please feel free to provide feedback at custsrv@wigjig.com.

WigJig and Pearls Necklace

If you liked the Pearls and WigJig Bracelet from our mid-February newsletter, then you should consider the necklace at left as a complimentary project.  This 24 inch long necklace was made with medium gold-filled round chain and 6mm Cream Swarovski Crystal Pearls.  We used three of the WigJig Links with this piece.  To review how to make this WigJig component, please click here.  The watch is our Pendant Watch Gold-tone.  As you can see, the numbers are upside down, so that the watch can be viewed by the wearer.

We update the items we have on special sale pricing with every newsletter.  A small sample of the products we currently have on sale are shown below.  Please click on any of the text below the pictures to view our entire list of sale items.  Quantities are limited for these items so please shop early.  Please note that we now have Plastic Earring Clutches back in stock and they are on sale!

FREE JEWELRY MAKING DESIGN:
With every newsletter we provide a free design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  This newsletter's free design is the Orchid Star Earrings shown at right.  These earrings were made using a small five pointed star pattern.  The ear wire itself was made with 20G 1/2 hard gold-filled wire and was decorated with 22G Orchid Artistic Wire to match the wire used in the star.  (We strongly recommend against using Artistic Wire to make an ear wire as the chemicals in the wire coating are not suitable for use inside a pierced ear.)  The star itself was made with 20G Orchid Artistic Wire wrapped to hold its shape with 26G Gold Artistic Wire.  The wire wraps here add strength and decorative appeal to this piece. This combination of purple and gold was once considered royal colors by some ancient civilizations.  Today, thanks to Artistic Wire, anyone can dress like royalty.

Jewelry Making Technique of the week:
Our WigJig University wire-working technique for this newsletter shows how to make the three styles of stars shown at right and in the earrings shown above.  These stars can be made on the WigJig Cyclops or Electra with 16, 18 or 20G wire.  For these stars, 1/2 hard wire works best as it makes sharper (less rounded) corners.

This WigJig jewelry making newsletter is provided as part of WigJig University.  We try to provide interesting jewelry projects using beads, jewelry wire and other jewelry supplies.  We hope that these pictures will provide you enough information for you to complete this project.  Some of the skills and jewelry making techniques have not been discussed here.  For beginners, we suggest that you visit our Beginners Start Here pages. These pages discuss the skills necessary for making jewelry in the detail that beginners need. We also suggest that beginners to jewelry making might need to visit the WigJig University College of Jewelry Making Techniques for additional information about some of the skills and techniques shown.

Most, but not all of the jewelry supplies shown here can be purchased in our WigJig store.  We try to have a complete selection of jewelry supplies in our store including chain, wire, glass beads, findings, watches, tools, etc.
