DESIGN: With every newsletter we provide a free jewelry making design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices. This newsletter's free designs are the designs for wire chandelier earrings shown at right. The earrings shown were made with Swarovski 6mm bicone emerald crystal beads, 20 gauge wire, and ear wire finding, and some 24 gauge wire (optional). These earrings are a beginners project and while they have a lot of steps in their construction, each step is easy to accomplish. You can find complete instructions for this jewelry making design here. |
|
Past Techniques: We maintain a jewelry making techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter. You will need to scroll down to view the techniques section in each prior newsletter. |
|
Jewelry Making Technique: Begin by cutting and straightening a piece of 18 gauge soft wire 8 inches long. Make a spiral either using the WigJig Spiral Maker, or as shown here. Leave about 3-4 inches of straight wire and make a loop in the end of the wire opposite the spiral. A wrapped loop was used in the bookmark shown at right, you could also use an eye loop. (The technique for making a wrapped loop is shown here.) Attach a bead dangle to the loop in the end of the wire. In the book mark show at right a wrapped bead link was used to connect between the bead dangle and the loop in the end of the wire. All of the skills involved in this project are beginners skills and are described in our "Beginners Start Here" section of WigJig University. This is a good opportunity to use colored wire and to coordinate the color of the wire with the beads. |

| This WigJig jewelry making newsletter is provided as
part of WigJig University. We try to provide interesting jewelry projects
using beads, jewelry wire and other jewelry supplies. We hope that these
pictures will provide you enough information for you to complete this
project. Some of the skills and jewelry making techniques have not been
discussed here. For beginners, we suggest that you visit our
Beginners Start Here pages. These pages discuss the skills necessary
for making jewelry in the detail that beginners need. We also suggest that
beginners to jewelry making might need to visit the
WigJig
University College of Jewelry Making Techniques for additional
information about some of the skills and techniques shown.
Most, but not all of the jewelry supplies shown here can be purchased in our WigJig store. We try to have a complete selection of jewelry supplies in our store including chain, wire, glass beads, findings, watches, tools, etc. |
