Design: With every newsletter we provide a free jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices. This newsletter's free design is the design for the Diogenes Earrings shown at right. This design was published in the Bead Unique Magazine Issue #2, Fall 2004. Diogenes was the Greek philosopher who wandered the streets of Athens with a lantern looking or an honest man. Because the shape of these earrings remind us of a lantern, we call them Diogenes Earrings. Do you think that perhaps Andy Rooney is wandering the halls of CBS with a lantern now? (Just a current affairs joke!) These earrings were made with a tourmaline briolette bead and with small tourmaline beads sold by Soft Flex. You can find instructions for making these earrings here. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter. You will need to scroll down to view the techniques section in each prior newsletter. |

Jewelry Technique: Two different styles for these Remembrance Earrings are shown at right. Both styles use Artistic Wire to make head pins. The earrings at far right are made using spirals to act as the head of the head pin. The earrings at near right use hammered wire to act as the head of the head pin. These earrings are made using our WigJig Delphi and a 1/4" Super Peg, although the same pattern could be made on any WigJig with two metal pegs and one 1/4" Super Peg. Some of the alternative designs use a chasing hammer and anvil. Select either the pictures or the name at right to view our step-by-step instructions. |
