WigJig News:
Our new WigJig Centaur is now available for sale.  The mythical Centaur is a creature that is 1/2 man and 1/2 horse.  Our WigJig Centaur is 1/2 square peg pattern and 1/2 round peg pattern, combining the best features of both to provide the most functionality and flexibility in any jewelry making jig.  You can view the WigJig Centaur in our Internet store here.  The Centaur has proven to be a hot seller.  We anticipate running out of the Centaur in November, but our manufacturing should begin to keep up with the demand in early December.  Please persevere, we are making the Centaur as fast as we can.

Free Jewelry Design:
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is design for the One Piece Chandelier Earrings shown at right.  We show two alternative configurations for this design with two styles of finishing the top of the wire component and two spacings for the pegs to provide different looks for a similar style of earrings.  These earrings are an advanced beginners design and require 20 gauge wire, head pins, beads, and commercial ear wire findings.  Instructions for making these earrings can be found here.

Past Techniques:
We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.
Jewelry Technique:
This weeks jewelry technique is a review of the technique for making the hook and catch clasp shown at right.  This clasp can be made of 16, 18, or 20 gauge wire and because the loops are wrapped closed, the clasp will be rather strong.  Instructions for making this clasp can be found here.

Thank You:
We received many expressions of sympathy and condolences for the passing away of Glenn Helwig one of our founders that we documented in our last newsletter.  We appreciate every response that we received.  One response that really touched us was the poem provided by Nic East and published below with his permission.

I Did Not Know Him
by Nic East

A friend of a friend has died,
A little bit of him is stuck inside,
His mind is gone but not his body,
They’ll bury that at eventide.

A friend of a friend has died,
And his pale afterimage lingers,
The art he did has become lore,
Wire shaped between his fingers.

A friend of a friend has died,
His family now feels bereft,
They never knew how much space,
He took up till he left.

A friend of a friend has died,
His life was very Zen,
Now he’s dead we know him better,
And we think of him as Glenn.

Again, we wish to thank everyone for their very kind expressions of sympathy and condolences.

We are continuing to improve our newsletter, so please feel free to provide feedback at custsrv@wigjig.com
