WigJig News: In the past we have discussed a US based charity that was teaching Haitian workers to make jewelry. The Charity was the Christian Light Foundation and they have had some success as they just received an order for 750 bracelet and earring sets. You can view information on their work including pictures of the jewelry here. I hope that you find this as interesting as we do. Some of our readers have asked us for the ability to search on our web site. We have avoided this because of the size of our site and the number of visitors that we have every day, we were concerned that it would slow down our server. Now many of the search engines including Google, MSN and Yahoo are offering searches on a specific web site using their search engine. This makes us happy since it does not use any additional server cycles on our server. The way to accomplish this is to enter the term <site:www.wigjig.com> and your search term into the "Search" block on one of these sites. For example if you wanted to search on our Queen of Clubs Earrings you could enter "site:www.wigjig.com queen of clubs". The reference to our web site must be as indicated. The search terms only needs to be separated from this reference by a <space> character.

Design: With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices. The new design for this newsletter is the design for the Four Plus 1 Chandelier Earrings shown at right. These earrings are an advanced beginners project and are relatively easy to make. The designs uses Swarovski 4mm and 6mm beads and 2x4mm Silver Lined Bugle Beads. Patterns are provided with our instructions for making these earrings on any of our WigJig tools. The earrings shown at right were made on our new WigJig Centaur. The emerald earrings in the center were made using the round pattern and the amethyst earrings on either end were made using the square pattern. You can view our instructions for making these earrings by selecting either the picture or the name at right. |

Jewelry Technique: This weeks jewelry technique is instructions on how to make the body of an earring using our WigJig tools. In these instructions we show several different ways to finish and attach the body of an earring to ear wires. The focus of this technique is to show how different wire designs can be incorporated into earrings. The examples shown are several varieties of the Four Plus 1 Chandelier earrings that are our Free Jewelry Design for this week. We show five different ways to make the top of these earrings, some very easy to complete and some more difficult. We also show some very simple earring designs and some designs for earrings that involve making a custom ear wire. Hopefully, the designs shown will provide the reader with some ideas on how to turn their own custom wire design into a pair of earrings.
