WigJig News:

Ear Cuff Basic Jewelry Making ProjectFirst, I want to thank everyone who stopped by the Milwaukee Bead and Button Show this past weekend and said hello.  I appreciated the hospitality that we were shown in Milwaukee and we had a very successful show.  My favorite memory of the show was the many 10 to 14 year old young ladies that I gave a sample of our ear cuff basic.  The ear cuff basic is shown at right (on the right) and allows the young ladies to wear an earring without pierced ears.  I was paid for my efforts in smiles and have never in my lifetime received better compensation for my time.  To view this online book, please select the picture at right.

My next public appearance will be the Beadwork Magazine and Soft Flex Company Bead Retreat show in Sonoma, California on Saturday August 20th and Sunday August 21st.  There will be three classes that I will be giving.  You can view these classes here.

Finally, we have investigated having classes in September in the Washington, DC area, but because of time will not be able to do these classes in a manner that we would find acceptable.  We did have significant interest in these classes, but we need a little more lead time for putting together a quality product.  For this reason, we are going to try to schedule classes for early May 2006 rather than rush to have classes in September of 2005.  I will try to keep everyone informed via our newsletter about when we have our classes.  Thank you for your patience.

Free Jewelry Design:
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the Beaded Curtain Earrings shown at right.  We show two styles of these earrings both with links between the segments of chain and without these links.  The pattern for these earrings is very similar to our Beaded Chandelier Earrings, but includes segments of commercial chain to make the strands hanging from each hoop in the earring body.  Instructions for making these earrings can be found by selecting either the picture or the name of the earrings at right.

Beaded Curtain Earrings

During the show in Milwaukee, one lady won our hearts as she looked at all the earrings we had on display and pointed to the beaded curtain earrings shown here and said I don't recognize these from your newsletters.  She was absolutely correct, all of the other designs shown had been published except for these earrings.  I was amazed at her memory and even more amazed that she used her excellent memory to remember something as trivial as our earring designs.

Past Techniques:
We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.

Spiral Ear Wire Jewelry Making Project.Jewelry Technique:
TSpiral Ear Wire Jewelry Making Projecthis weeks jewelry technique is a discussion on how to make a spiral ear wire using our WigJig Spiral Maker, one of our WigJig tools and some 20 gauge soft sterling silver or gold-filled wire.  For the earrings shown here we used the new Argentium Sterling Silver wire.  (Please note that for this project, colored Artistic Wire would not be appropriate as the dyes in the wire may be carcinogenic.)

If you understand how to use the WigJig Spiral Maker, making these ear wires is a very easy project.  For those of you who are not familiar with our Spiral Maker, you can find instructions for this jewelry making technique here.  For instructions on how to make these ear wires, please select either picture, above left or right.
