Free Jewelry Design:
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the "U" Shaped Earrings shown at right.  We show two configurations for these earrings.  Both configurations use essentially the same peg pattern on your jewelry making jig.  The pattern can be made on any WigJig jewelry making jig and uses a single 1/2 inch Super Peg plus three regular metal pegs.

This is an advanced beginner's jewelry making project.  These earrings are a relatively easy design to make.  If you are comfortable making the bead dangles shown, you should have no problem making these earrings.

Two Tier V Shaped Earrings Jewelry Making Project Made with Cobalt BeadsJewelry Technique:
This weeks jewelry technique is a discussion on how to make earrings and yokes using two or more simple wire components rather than one more complex wire component.  In our past newsletters we have provided instructions on how to make yokes and several different earring designs using this technique.  We have added some information to our web site on the strength of this technique.  Making earrings like the ones shown at right would be very difficult if you tried to do it with one piece of wire.  It is always difficult to determine where you begin and end the wire so that the design will be both strong, and esthetically pleasing.  By using two wire components to make the body of an earring like the top of the one shown here, each wire component helps to strengthen the other wire component and the ends of the wire segments are hidden as a natural component of the Corkscrew Earrings Jewelry Making Projectdesign.  Please select the picture at right to view additional information on this technique for making jewelry components using two simple wire component instead of one complex component.

We have also added new information to our Corkscrew Earrings instructions since our last newsletter.  We learned a lesson the hard way.  This design worked fine when given as a gift to a family member, but when on display in the public, the design was not strong enough and was pulled out of shape.  To add to the strength of the design we wrapped a segment of fine gauge wire between the top and the bottom of the corkscrew.  By doing this we greatly increased the strength of this shape, so that the corkscrew shape will be permanent.  To view instructions on this new technique, please select the picture at left.

We are continuing to improve our newsletter, so please feel free to provide feedback at custsrv@wigjig.com
