WigJig News:

Our shipping policy has remained unchanged for several years.  Unfortunately, our costs to ship our orders have increased by 30% since the beginning of 2005.  For this reason, we have been forced to modify our shipping policy for orders shipped to destinations within the US and US territories.  Effective beginning the 15th of November, 2005, we will waive the shipping costs on orders with $60 or more in merchandise as long as those orders remain over $60.  For orders with less than $60 in merchandise, we will charge $7.95 for shipping.

We have a few new items in our Internet store.  They include the large hoop earrings with loops in silver-plate and gold-plate and the findings shown at right that allow hanging beads with larger holes as a pendant.  (The hole in the bead must be larger than 1mm.)  Please select any picture below to view that item in our Internet store.

Beaded Ring Jewelry Making Project Close-Up ViewFree Jewelry Design:
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the beaded ring shown at right.  This ring can be made using any of our WigJig Tools and three metal pegs.  Beaded Ring Jewelry Making Project Oblique ViewYou will also need a ring mandrel and a nylon or rawhide mallet or hammer.  The ring uses 18 gauge soft wire, 24 gauge wire and 21 gauge 1/2 round 1/2 hard or 22 or 24 gauge round wire.  The ring can support a 6mm or 8mm bead.   It is shown here with 6mm beads.

This is an advanced beginner's jewelry making project.  It isn't appropriate for a beginner, but anyone with about 4 or more months of experience in making Beaded Ring Jewelry Making Projectjewelry should be able to complete this project. For this project, it is very important to make the ring several times with practice wire to develop your skills before switching to your good wire.

Figure 8 Connector Jewelry Making FindingJewelry Technique:
This weeks jewelry making technique is the continuation of the series of new pages on how to make common wire components.  In these new pages we discuss how we make figure 8 connectors and modified figure 8 connectors.    The figure 8 connector is shown at right and is used to connect two wire components without changing the orientation of the components.

Modified Figure 8 Connector Jewelry Making FindingThe modified figure 8 connector is shown at left and is used to connect two wire components and re-orientating those components so that they hang perpendicular to one another.  The modified figure 8 connector is functionally equivalent to using a jump ring to connect two wire components.

To view our instructions on how to make figure 8 connectors and modified figure 8 connectors, please select here or any of the pictures above.

We have added a new way to view the jewelry making projects on our web site.  Please select the appropriate text view links to pictures of our designs.  You can visit our Earring Designs, Bracelet Designs, Necklace Designs our our Ring & Other Designs.  From our home page, please select "View our Designs Using Wire and Beads" to be able to find links to these pages.  We are still trying to improve our web site to make it easy to use.
