Bull's Eye Earrings Jewelry Making Project Close-Up View
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the Bull's Eye earrings shown here.  These earrings are made using one 7/8" Super Peg and a 1/2" or 5/8" Super Peg.  They earrings can be made using any of our WigJig tools.  These earrings use 16 gauge soft wire for making the two circular wire components and 18 or 20 gauge wire for making connectors to connect the components.  The earrings also use two 6mm or 8mm beads and two head pins.  We think that these easy to make earrings are really "on target".

The 7/8" Super Peg is part of our set of three Large Round Super Pegs.  If you don't have this set, you could also use your WigJig Spiral Maker to make the large circular wire component.

To view our instructions for how to make this jewelry item please select here or select any earring picture above.  We hope you like this project.

Past Techniques:
We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the Head Pin Jewelry Making Findingdiscussion of the technique in that newsletter.

Jewelry Technique:
Head Pin Jewelry Making FindingThis weeks jewelry making technique is a new page of instructions on how to Queen of Clubs Earrings Jewelry Making Projectmake head pin findings.  We discuss two styles of hand made head pins.  The first style is the "paddles" style of head pins made by hammering a segment of wire so that it widens the bottom of the wire to contain a bead.  You can view samples of these paddles style head pins on the earrings at far-left and in the earrings at right.  The second style is the Queen of Clubs style of ear wire made using a three peg pattern on one of our WigJig tools.  Both of these styles of head pins are normally made using 20 gauge wire for the simple reason that larger wire may not fit inside your beads.

Making the paddles style head pins requires a chasing hammer and an anvil or bench block.  This technique requires hammering the wire for several minutes to flatten one end of the wire then cutting the end of the hammered wire using your flush cutter either flat as shown above-right or in a pointed shape as shown above-left.
