WigJig News:

More Bling Diamond Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectMore Bling Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectWe have applied for a trademark for the phrase "More Bling for Less Cha-Ching™".  We will use this phrase to describe our new line of simulated gemstones and settings.  We are selling simulated gemstones in 1/4, .8 and 2.2 carat equivalent sizes.  Because you will make these jewelry pieces yourself, the prices are very, very reasonable.  We have settings for earrings and for pendants.  Instructions for how to make jewelry using these gemstones and settings can be found as our jewelry making project for the week, below.  The colors of simulated gemstones that we are currently selling are shown here.  The bottom line is that you get more ice at a lower price!  Please read our discussion on why jewelry costs so much here.

One of our guest contributors to this newsletter is Andrea Drewek of The Amber Bead in Edina and Maple Grove Minnesota.  Andrea is an instructor with The Amber Bead and teaches classes in both stores on how to make jewelry using our WigJig tools.  If you select the picture at right, you will be able to view a larger image of this necklace.  You can find information on jewelry making classes and directions on how to get to The Amber Bead on their web site at www.theamberbead.com.  We thank Andrea for sharing her necklace design with us.

Cynthia Besio Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectWe also have a very nice earring design contributed by Cynthia Besio of New Port Richey, Florida.  Cynthia makes these earrings using the Natural Silver, Silver-plated Artistic Wire because she likes both the bright shiny nature of this wire and she likes the anti-tarnish feature that this wire provides.  This design uses a spiral component and a round component, made on our of our round jigs.  Please select the picture at left to view a full-size picture of Cynthia's earrings.  Cynthia can be reached with questions via her jewelry web site -- http://www.jde-jewelry.com.  You can also view several other jewelry designs by Cynthia on her site.  Again, we thank Cynthia for sharing this design with us.

Emerald Bling Necklace Jewelry Making Project Free Jewelry Design:
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this More Bling Earring Jewelry Making Projectnewsletter are the designs for using our simulated gemstones to get More Bling for Less Cha-China We provide instructions on how to make earrings and pendants using our findings and gemstones.  The two stones shown here are equivalent in size to a 2.2 carat diamond.  Optically, the CZ stones used in these pieces can not be distinguished from a real diamond.  In fact, special test equipment had to be developed to allow jewelers to determine the difference between a diamond and a CZ.  If you can't see the difference, why pay More Bling Pendant Jewelry Making Finding10,000 times more for something that looks the same?  Our white CZs are flawless, with the highest quality cut available.

At this time our supplies of these gemstones and findings are limited.  As we sell out of the sizes and colors available, we will reorder in larger quantities.

Past Techniques:
We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.

Jewelry Technique:
Flattening a Wire Component Jewelry Making TechniqueThis weeks jewelry making technique is a discussion of how to make strong, permanent wire components.  Jewelry wire is by necessity a compromise.  It must be sufficiently flexible that it can be bent into a variety of shapes, yet once it is in the shape we want, we want it to be permanent and remain in that shape.  Obviously, there is no prefect wire so we are forced to find other techniques for making wire components that are permanent.  We have added two new web pages with directions on how to make your wire shapes permanent.  We discuss techniques for flattening wire, for using wire components in the proper orientation, for bracing wire components to make them stronger and for hammering wire.  Made with Emerald BeadsPlease select the picture above-right, or select here to view this new jewelry making information.

Nostalgia Corner:
This weeks featured design in our Nostalgia Corner is the design for the Ear Cuff shown here.    These earrings are rather easy to make and do not require pierced ears.  They are also nice because they can be worn as an accessory with the More Bling for Less Cha-Ching ™ jewelry that we discussed above. The Ear Cuff is made with 16 gauge wire and any of our WigJig tools.  A Spiral Maker, or Large Round Super Peg is required to make the large round shape of this Ear Cuff.  Since these earrings do not require pierced ears, they are a good jewelry making project for Girl Scouts.  We have several styles of these Ear Cuffs.  Please select here, or the picture at right to view our instructions for making the Ear Cuff.
