Design: With every newsletter
we provide a new jewelry design
from WigJig University
to spur the
creative
juices. The new design for this newsletter is the design for the
10 Minute Jewelry Project shown here. Ultimately, we will have the
findings to set gemstones in both 8mm and 10mm sizes and in both
gold-filled and sterling silver. At this minute, we have the
finding for setting a 10mm stone in sterling silver.
You can find that finding in our Internet store here. 8mm
settings and gold-filled settings will be available within the next two
weeks. To put a pair of 10mm round stones in perspective, they
would equate in size to a pair of 4 carat diamonds. You won't
wear these earrings without getting comments. Currently we sell
CZs in the 10mm size in the colors white (diamond), tanzanite, and pink.
If these prove as popular as we anticipate, we will be adding more
colors of 10mm gemstones.
![]() Setting your gemstones in the round Low Wall Bezel Settings that form the bottom of the above earrings could not be easier. You simply place the setting upside down on a cutting board or table top and lay the stone face down into the setting. Then you bend all four tabs down to hold the stone in position. Once the stone is set, you connect the finding to an ear wire finding and you are done. Because these stones are slightly more expensive than beads we recommend using ear wires that are firmly connected to the ear, like the post style earrings shown above, or like the lever back ear wires we have on sale. We believe that 10mm gemstone type earrings will make great Christmas and birthday presents. All of our female relatives will be getting some. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter. ![]()
Jewelry Technique: The stand shown at right was made using 12 gauge tinned copper wire and is very sturdy. The stand could also be made using 14 gauge wire and would still be sturdy. If made using 16 gauge wire the stand would work, but would not be quite as sturdy.
