While we don't sell diamonds, we do sell white cubic zirconia (CZs) that are visually so close to a diamond in appearance that most jeweler's can only differentiate a CZ from a diamond because a CZ won't have the inclusions and minor imperfections that are present in almost all mined diamonds. We also have information on cubic zirconia here.
Each year is different in how the cherry trees blossom. Because it was a cold spring in Washington, this year may not have been the best year for viewing. We hope you enjoy our pictures. Free Jewelry
Design:![]() With every newsletter
we provide a new jewelry design
from WigJig University
to spur the creative juices. The new designs for this newsletter
are the designs for the Round Chandelier Wire and Beads Earrings shown here.
While this jewelry making design is relatively easy to make, it may not
be suitable for beginners. It is suitable for advanced
beginners.
This project uses 24 inches of 18 gauge wire, 14 4mm or 6mm beads, 14 headpins, and a pair of commercial ear wire findings. These earrings are made using a WigJig Cyclops or Electra and 8 of the regular metal pegs. For those readers who have our WigJig Centaur, this design isn't as easy to make on the Centaur, but it can be done by making 1/2 of the circular wire component at a time then shifting the wire. We plan on presenting alternatives to this design in future newsletters that would incorporate seed beads on the straight segments of wire to add sparkle to the design. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.
Jewelry Technique:
We have added a page of detailed instructions to our web site on making a loop with step jaw pliers, You can view this detailed page of instructions by selecting any of the pictures here or by selecting here. Step jaw pliers are perfect for making the initial loop in any wire component that you will make on a jewelry making jig. The flat jaw does not mark the wire so you won't have a mark on the outside of your wire. The resulting loop is always the same size so using these pliers makes it easy to be consistent. We consider our fine step jaw pliers to be an important part of every jewelry making tool box.
Nostalgia Corner: This is a good piece for beginners to make to understand what happens to your wire components when you flip them over after every loop. The end result is a wire component with two layers of wire instead of one that grows in thickness from start to finish.
Warning! Joke Follows. If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke -- please skip the below paragraphs. Boomer Humor: This week Boomer has two jokes, one for Democrats and one for Republicans. Please don't get your party affiliation confused. Reading the opposition party's humor will be considered humor trespassing and is a punishable offense. |
