SpokesDog Boomer for Beads, Jewelry Tools and Jewelry Making Supplies by WigJig Web SiteWigJig News -- AKA Boomer Sez:

Our Spokesdog:  If an insurance company can have a gecko, we have decided that we can have a spokesdog.  Boomer, shown at right, is our spokesdog.

How to Unsubscribe:  If you signed up for our newsletter and then decided you don't want to receive it any more, the proper way to unsubscribe is to select the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every newsletter e-mail or to follow our sign up link above.  On that sign up page we also provide a way for people to unsubscribe.

8mm Peridot Colored CZ GemstoneBirthstone for August:  The birthstone for August is the peridot.   Peridot has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.  This means that peridot is softer than most dust.  For this reason, many experts would say that genuine peridot is not for every day wear for the simple reason that the gemstone can loose its polish due to exposure to dust.  At a minimum, we would not suggest using genuine peridot for rings and bracelets because rings and bracelets are subjected to more abrasion than earrings or necklaces.  We have a lot more good information on peridot that is too detailed to include in our newsletter.  Please select here to view more information on peridot.

WigJig Brand Hand Tools:  In our next newsletter, we will be announcing our WigJig branded hand tools.  We will be selling a beginners tool kit, our round nose pliers, our bent chain nose pliers, fine step jaw pliers, nylon jaw pliers with a thin nose, bent closing pliers, straight chain nose pliers, and a tool wallet for holding up to 8 tools.  These are all quality tools and will be sold at a very reasonable price.  Boomer says stay tuned to our newsletter for the big announcement.

Sanja's Jewelry Making ProjectGuest Contributor:  Our Guest Contributor for this newsletter is Sanja Kljajic Sanja's Earring Jewelry Making Projectof Sibenik, Croatia.  Sanja contributed to our newsletter in November of 2006 and has some more jewelry for us to view.  Sanja, is a 39 year old mother of two and makes bead and wire jewelry to sell both in souvenir shops and in a jewelry stand that she and a friend operate during the tourist season.  Sanja has a daytime job as a technician in a planning office; and she has been making jewelry in her spare time for almost three years now.  Sanja explained to us that Sibenik, Croatia is a coastal town of 40,000 people and is famous for its sight seeing.  You can view information on Sibenik in English here.  Pictures of Sibenik can be found here.   If you have questions for Sanja, she can be reached via e-mail at sanja.kljajic@si.htnet.hr

We really like seeing Sanja's jewelry.  She has taken ideas from our web site and incorporated them into jewelry that is uniquely her own.  To view all 21 pieces of jewelry submitted by Sanja, please select either picture above or select here.

150 Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making Project Alt one to 150 Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectFree Jewelry Design:
With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur Alt 3 to 150 Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making Projectthe creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the  150 Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings jewelry making project.  This name should not be interpreted to mean that we have 150 designs for this type of earrings.  The name is derived from the fact that a somewhat similar pair of earrings were for sale in a jewelry shop in Nassau, Bahamas for $150.

We have several design options for these earrings as you can see here.  Our favorites are the two alternatives shown that use the Oval Ear Wire.  This Oval Ear Wire is a modification to one of our designs and must be made specifically for these earrings with a larger than normal loop at the bottom.     Fortunately, the semi-circular wire components used to make these earrings and the Oval Ear Wire use exactly the same peg pattern on one of our WigJig tools.  These earrings can be made on any WigJig Jewelry Making Tool but you will also need either a 3/4" Super Peg or our Spiral Maker for the jig you use.

To view our instructions for how to make this 150 Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings jewelry making project select here, or select any picture above.

Past Techniques:
We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.

Jewelry Technique:
Beadstringing Kit Jewelry Making ProjectThis week's jewelry making technique is an introduction to our new instructions for our WigJig Beadstringing Kit.  You can view our Beadstringing kit in our Internet store here.  You can view our instructions for assembling this kit here.  We have even prepared some easy to print instructions for this Beadstringing Kit in Adobe Acrobat format.  Select here to view our Adobe Acrobat instructions for the Beadstringing Kit.

Our goal with this Beadstringing Kit is to provide a way for newcomers to have a project that is suitable for a beginner, but allows them to make a piece of jewelry that they would be proud to wear.  The piece that is made using the Beadstringing Beadstringing Kit Jewelry Making ProjectKit is the white pearl beads necklace shown above-right and below-left.  The kit includes all the tools, beads, supplies and materials necessary to make the white pearl beads necklace shown.  With the instructions provided both via the Internet, or easily printed in Adobe Acrobat format, anyone should be successful in making this necklace.

This kit is not appropriate for someone who already has their own tools.  It is focused on a total newcomer with no tools and little to no experience.  The kit employs bead stringing wire and crimp beads to make a necklace that is permanent, quick and easy to make, and a standard item of most people's jewelry collections.  Select either picture, or select here to view our free instructions for the Beadstringing Kit.

Our WigJig Beadstringing Kit makes an excellent birthday or Christmas gift.

Nostalgia Corner:
Jewelry Wire Tie Chain Jewelry Making ProjectThis week's featured design in our Nostalgia Corner is the design for our Tie Chain.  During the past two weeks we've had several questions about Jewelry Wire Tie Chain Jewelry Making Project with Gemstonethe Tie Chain project.  The tie chain is an excellent project to make as gifts and can be made with just a simple chain, with a decorative wire component as shown above-right, or with a gemstone as shown at left.

We made the Tie Chain with 18 gauge 1/2 hard wire.  We received some feedback from some people who tried to make the Tie Chain with 18 gauge soft wire and they weren't satisfied with the results.  Our suggestion for those who want to make this tie chain using less expensive soft wire is that they use 16 gauge wire if they are going to use soft wire.

Please select here, or select either picture above to view our instructions for making our Jewelry Wire Tie Chain shown here.

Warning! Joke Follows.
This is only a joke.  We tell jokes because we are in favor of smiling, laughing and being happy.  This does not mean that we are opposed to anyone or anything.

If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke  -- please skip the below paragraphs.  It is not our intention to offend anyone!  We don't write these jokes, we only re-tell jokes that we have heard on the public radio or other public media.

Boomer Humor:  A man walks into a bar with an ostrich behind him and they proceed to the bar.  The bartender asks the man for his order and the man responds "I'll have an Irish Whiskey with a beer chaser."  The ostrich says "I'll have the same."

The bartender returns with the drinks and says "That's $12.29 for the two drinks plus taxes."  The patron reaches into his pocket and withdraws exactly $12.29 and pays the bartender.

The man and the ostrich return to the bar frequently and while the man orders different drinks, whatever the man orders, the ostrich has the same thing.  In addition, whenever the bartender rings up the total, the man always pays with the exact change.

After a couple of weeks of this the bartender finally gets around to asking "Why is it that you always pay with exact change?"  The man responds "Some years back I found a magic lamp and was granted two wishes.  My first wish was that whenever I wanted to purchase anything, all I would have to do is reach into my pocket and the exact change would be there for me to pay."  The bartender responds "Boy that's smart.  Many people would have wished for a million dollars and would be broke within a few years."  The bartender continues "Can you tell me why you are always followed by an ostrich?"  The patron responds "My second wish was for a tall chick with a large breast, and long legs who would always agree with everything I say."
