Design:With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices. The new design for this newsletter
is the design for the 150 Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings
jewelry making project. This name should not be interpreted to
mean that we have 150 designs for this type of earrings. The name
is derived from the fact that a somewhat similar pair of earrings were
for sale in a jewelry shop in Nassau, Bahamas for $150.
We have several design options for these earrings as you can see here. Our favorites are the two alternatives shown that use the Oval Ear Wire. This Oval Ear Wire is a modification to one of our designs and must be made specifically for these earrings with a larger than normal loop at the bottom. Fortunately, the semi-circular wire components used to make these earrings and the Oval Ear Wire use exactly the same peg pattern on one of our WigJig tools. These earrings can be made on any WigJig Jewelry Making Tool but you will also need either a 3/4" Super Peg or our Spiral Maker for the jig you use. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.
Jewelry Technique:
Our goal with this Beadstringing Kit is to provide a way for newcomers to have a project that is suitable for a beginner, but allows
them to make a piece of jewelry that they would be proud to wear. The
piece that is made using the Beadstringing
This kit is not appropriate for someone who already has their own tools. It is focused on a total newcomer with no tools and little to no experience. The kit employs bead stringing wire and crimp beads to make a necklace that is permanent, quick and easy to make, and a standard item of most people's jewelry collections. Select either picture, or select here to view our free instructions for the Beadstringing Kit. Our WigJig Beadstringing Kit makes an excellent birthday or Christmas gift.
Nostalgia Corner: We made the Tie Chain with 18 gauge 1/2 hard wire. We received some feedback from some people who tried to make the Tie Chain with 18 gauge soft wire and they weren't satisfied with the results. Our suggestion for those who want to make this tie chain using less expensive soft wire is that they use 16 gauge wire if they are going to use soft wire.
Warning! Joke Follows. If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke -- please skip the below paragraphs. It is not our intention to offend anyone! We don't write these jokes, we only re-tell jokes that we have heard on the public radio or other public media. Boomer Humor: A man walks into a bar with an ostrich behind him and they proceed to the bar. The bartender asks the man for his order and the man responds "I'll have an Irish Whiskey with a beer chaser." The ostrich says "I'll have the same." The bartender returns with the drinks and says "That's $12.29 for the two drinks plus taxes." The patron reaches into his pocket and withdraws exactly $12.29 and pays the bartender. The man and the ostrich return to the bar frequently and while the man orders different drinks, whatever the man orders, the ostrich has the same thing. In addition, whenever the bartender rings up the total, the man always pays with the exact change. After a couple of weeks of this the bartender finally gets around to asking "Why is it that you always pay with exact change?" The man responds "Some years back I found a magic lamp and was granted two wishes. My first wish was that whenever I wanted to purchase anything, all I would have to do is reach into my pocket and the exact change would be there for me to pay." The bartender responds "Boy that's smart. Many people would have wished for a million dollars and would be broke within a few years." The bartender continues "Can you tell me why you are always followed by an ostrich?" The patron responds "My second wish was for a tall chick with a large breast, and long legs who would always agree with everything I say." |
