SpokesDog Boomer for Beads, Jewelry Tools and Jewelry Making Supplies by WigJig Web SiteWigJig News -- AKA Boomer Sez:

Our Spokesdog:  If an insurance company can have a gecko, we have decided that we can have a spokesdog.  Boomer, shown at right, is our spokesdog.

How to Unsubscribe:  If you signed up for our newsletter and then decided you don't want to receive it any more, the proper way to unsubscribe is to select the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every newsletter e-mail or to follow our sign up link above.  On that sign up page we also provide a way for people to unsubscribe.

8mm Tourmaline GemstoneBirthstone for October:  The birthstone for October is the tourmaline.    There are 14 officially recognized varieties of tourmaline varying in color from black, to yellow, to pink, to green, to blue and finally to colorless.  Among the most common variations are the pink tourmaline shown at right and the green tourmaline shown below-left.  There is even one variation of tourmaline that is pink on one end and green on the opposite end.  This variation is called, appropriately enough, watermelon tourmaline.  Please select here to view more information on tourmaliTourmaline Gemstonesne.

In our WigJig store, we sell natural, mined pink tourmaline, man-made green tourmaline and pink cubic zirconia gemstones that are visually identical to the Pink variation of tourmaline.  Please select either picture above to view our selection of tourmaline gemstones.

Also, we now have three jewelry making kits that contain Pink Cubic Zirconia (simulating pink tourmaline) and are excellent gift ideas for someone born in October.  You can view these new kits below.  All three kits are suitable for beginners.  Please select any picture below to view that kit in our Internet store including links to our free instructions for assembling that kit.

WigJig Brand Hand Tools:  Our shipment of our WigJig branded hand tools has finally arrived.  You can view all of these jewelry making tools here.  We believe that these tools provide the best possible functionality at very reasonable prices.  For people who are registered with us as wholesale buyers (with a store) we have wholesale prices on these new tools beginning with a minimum purchase of three of each tool.  Please send us an e-mail if you want to re-sell these tools.

New Products:  Since our last newsletter, we have added several new items to our Internet store.  These new items help to make jewelry with 1/2 drilled pearl beads as shown below.  You can view our new instructions for making jewelry with these findings starting here.

Oval Links Jewelry Wire & Beads Bracelet Jewelry Making Project Free Jewelry Design:
Oval Links Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectWith every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the  Oval Links Jewelry Wire and Beads earrings and bracelet shown here.  This is an intermediate jewelry making project and is probably not a good choice for a beginner.  These earrings and bracelet could be made on any of our WigJig Jewelry Making Tools and require regular metal pegs for your jig and both 1/2" and 3/8" Super Pegs.  In making the bracelet we used 18 gauge and 20 gauge soft wire and 24 gauge 1/2 hard wire, but you could make both the earrings and the bracelet with 20 gauge wire and 22 gauge wire if that was what you had available.  We used a combination of size 6 seed beads and 6mm glass crystal beads, but you could use 8mm beads or several other bead combinations.  To view our instructions for how to make these Oval Links Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings and Bracelet select here, or select any picture above.
Past Techniques:
We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.

Jewelry Technique:
Techniques for Using Jewelry Making Findings with 1/2 Drilled BeadsSterling Silver Lever Back Earrings Made with 1/2 Drilled Pearl BeadsThis week's jewelry making technique is a discussion on how to use our new jewelry making findings with 1/2 drilled pearl beads to make necklaces and earrings.  These new findings work best with 8mm 1/2 drilled pearl beads.  All three styles of these findings have a post that is used for gluing the 1/2 drilled beads onto the finding using jeweler's cement like our item 0359 from our Internet store.  The jewelry that can be made using these findings is shown left, right and below-right.  Eventually we will have these findings in stock in all three styles in both sterling silver and gold-filled.  Unfortunately, at this time we only have the filigree bail necklace finding in both Sterling Silver Filigree Bail Necklace Jewelry Making Projectsterling silver and gold filled. The lever back earring finding shown above-left is only available in sterling silver as shown.  The bead cap finding used to make the gold-filled earrings shown above-right are currently only available in gold filled.

You can view our complete instructions for making the jewelry shown here by selecting here or by selecting any picture of the finished jewelry.

We really like the jewelry that can be made with these new findings.  It makes excellent gifts.  This jewelry has everything that we like in a jewelry project -- it looks like it was made by a professional jeweler, it costs very little to make, and it takes less than a minute to assemble the jewelry.  (Although we do recommend allowing the glue to dry for 10 minutes minimum before you wear it.)

Nostalgia Corner:
Jewelry Wire and Bead Ring Jewelry Making ProjectThis week's featured design in our Nostalgia Corner is the design for our Jewelry Wire Ring jewelry making project.  This ring is a relatively simple project, but it does require a ring mandrel and a nylon hammer in addition to one of our WigJig tools to complete.  This same basic style of ring can also be used to make toe rings although you may need to adjust the size for a toe ring.  You can view several different ways to finish this ring jewelry making project below.

Please select here, or select either picture above to view our instructions for making our Simple Jewelry Wire Ring Project shown here.

Warning! Joke Follows.
This is only a joke.  We tell jokes because we are in favor of smiling, laughing and being happy.  This does not mean that we are opposed to anyone or anything.

If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke  -- please skip the below paragraphs.  It is not our intention to offend anyone!  We don't write these jokes, we only re-tell jokes that we have heard on the public radio, television or over the Internet.

Boomer Humor:

Boomer was in a bar and overheard two men talking.  Billy Bob says to Luther "Ya know, I reckon I'm about ready for a vacation.  Only this year I'm gonna do it differently.

Three years ago, you suggested that I go to Hawaii.  I went to Hawaii and my wife, Earlene got pregnant.

Two years ago you suggested that I go to the Bahamas.  I went to the Bahamas and Earlene got pregnant again.

Last year you suggested that I go to Mexico.  I want to Mexico and darned if Earlene didn't get pregnant again. "

Luther responds "What are you going to do differently this year?"

Billy Bob answers "This year I'm gonna take Earlene with me."
