How to Unsubscribe: If you signed up for our newsletter and then decided you don't want to receive it any more, the proper way to unsubscribe is to select the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every newsletter e-mail or to follow our sign up link above. On that sign up page we also provide a way for people to unsubscribe.
Shows for 2008: We don't participate in a lot of shows because
we don't have the time to run our WigJig business plus do a lot of travel.
We will be participating in two shows in 2008. They are the
International Gem and Jewelry Show in Tucson February 6-10 and the Bead and
Button Show in Milwaukee June 5-8. You
can view information on these shows here.
Please note that we won't have a WigJig booth. We will be
demonstrating our WigJig Tools at the Soft Flex Booth. If
you will be attending either show, please stop by the Soft Flex Booth and
say hello. Birthstone for January: The birthstone for January is the garnet. Last year, we were only selling Garnet colored CZs. This year, we have added both man-made garnets and natural, or mined garnets to our Internet store. Both the man-made garnets and the natural garnets are darker in color than the garnet CZs that we sell. You can view this darker color at right. Please select here for more information on Garnets. New Products: Since our last newsletter we have added three new gemstones. We have added natural, 6mm, Grade AA Peridot, Garnet and Citrine gemstones in the round brilliant cut. These gemstones are not made in a laboratory but are mined from the earth and for this reason will have very small imperfections that can only be viewed using a jeweler's loupe. For those of you who want a natural gemstone, these stones may be what you want. You can view these new gemstones below. Please select any picture to view that item in our Internet store. We have very limited supplies of these gemstones so if you are interested, we suggest purchasing now. We can get more, but it will take several months once these stones sell out to get them back in stock.
Guest Contributor: This month's guest contributor is Laurie Roberge from Scarborough, Maine. Laurie makes earrings that she donates to the oncology department at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. The earrings are given to anyone receiving cancer treatments who may want them. If you have questions for Laurie, she can be reached via e-mail at laurie_roberge@hotmail.com. From the picture you can tell that Laurie has been busy.

Design:With every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices. The new design for this newsletter is the design for the 2 Strand Jewelry Wire & Beads Bracelet shown at right and below. This is an advanced beginner's jewelry making project and involves both stringing beads on Soft Flex, using crimp beads and making wire components on our WigJig tools. For this project, we made the two end wire components, the spacer bar and the clasp out of 20 gauge wire using patterns on our WigJig Delphi or Centaur. The patterns we used are perfect for using 6mm beads. The beads were strung on size .019 Soft Flex. From a technical perspective, we really like the way the clasp is integrated into the end wire components and the fact that the end wire components are wrapped closed so that the bracelet is both strong and permanent. From an artistic perspective, we like the way the Swarovski Crystal Peals look when contracted with the Swarovski Round Sapphire Crystal beads. We hope you like it also. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.
Nostalgia Corner:
Warning! Joke Follows. If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke -- please skip the below paragraphs. It is not our intention to offend anyone! We don't write these jokes, we only re-tell jokes that we have heard on the public radio, television or over the Internet. Boomer Humor: Boomer's roommates are Gary and Suzanne. Since Suzanne is getting mature, like a fine wine, Gary decided to make some "Menopause Jewelry" for Suzanne. As a Christmas gift he made her a mood ring using beads that changed color based with her moods. He learned that when Suzanne is in a good mood, the ring turns green. He also learned that when she is in a bad mood the mood ring leaves a big red mark on his forehead. (Please remember, this is just a joke.) |
