Jewelry Technique:
  This
week's jewelry making technique is our new instructions for how to make a
small
handmade, jewelry wire, round bail finding like the one shown left and
right. Please note that these pictures are somewhat enlarged.
The size of the loop shown at right is 3/32nd inside diameter and the
pendants are 7x10mm in size. This new technique shows how to make a
bail that is compatible with smaller pendants. The technique will work
on beads with either a front-to-back hole or with a side-to-side hole.
This project can be made on our WigJig Olympus, Olympus Lite or Electra
using a single regular metal peg for the jig.
It is suitable for advanced beginners to making jewelry. Anyone who is
comfortable
 making wrapped loops will find that they can make attractive and
consistent bail findings using our instructions. For these smaller
pendants we recommend using 24 gauge half-hard wire. (In our prior
instructions for the larger round bails we recommended using soft wire, for
this bail we recommend using half hard wire.)
The pendants shown above are actually enlarged. The pictures on the
earrings, left and right, are close to the actual size. They are our
7x10mm Pendants and
can be found in our Internet store by selecting here.
   In
addition to our instructions for these bails with a small loop at the top,
we also have instructions for bails with a 3/16" bail at the top. The
instructions are essentially identical with one difference; the
instructions for the small loop use a regular metal peg for our WigJig
Olympus, Olympus Lite or Electra, 3/32" in size, the instructions for
the bail with a larger, 3/16" loop at the top use any of our WigJig tools
and a 3/16" Super Peg. With that one change the steps in making the
bail are otherwise identical. The pendants shown at right use our
7x18mm Pear Pendants.

Boomer Humor:
A General notices that one of his troops is behaving
strangely while part of a crew picking up trash on the parade ground.
Unlike the other soldiers who pick up the trash and put it in the trash can,
this soldier picks up a piece of trash, unfolds it, seems to read it, then
says "That's not it." and throws the piece of trash back on the ground.
After watching 15 minutes of this behavior, the General makes a call and
arranges to have a psychological evaluation for that soldier.
Ultimately, the psychologist decides that the soldier isn't suited for the
Army and prepares his discharge papers. When the discharge papers are
completed, the strange soldier picks up the discharge papers and says
"That's it."
