How to Unsubscribe: If you signed up for our newsletter and then decided you don't want to receive it any more, the proper way to unsubscribe is to select the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every newsletter e-mail or to follow our sign up link above. On that sign up page we also provide a way for people to unsubscribe. WigJig Demos at the International Gem & Jewelry Show in Tucson: Gary Helwig, inventor of the WigJig, will be demonstrating making jewelry using our WigJig jewelry making tools at the Best Bead Show in Tucson from February 4th through the 8th. The Best Bead Show is located at the Keno Veteran's Memorial Community Center, 2805 E. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ 85713-6217. The show will be open 10AM to 8PM on the 4th (Wednesday), 10AM to 6PM for the 5th through 7th (Thursday through Saturday), and 10AM to 6PM on the 8th (Sunday). Please note -- Gary will be conducting demonstrations in the Soft Flex Booth. There won't be a booth labeled WigJig. You can find a map and directions to the Keno Veteran's Center here. If you are going to be in Tucson during the show, please stop by the Soft Flex Booth and say hello. Mention that Boomer sent you and we promise a smile in return.
WigJig Shipping Charges: We have changed the way that we charge for shipping on our orders. For orders over $60, there are essentially no changes. We continue to waive the shipping charge as long as the total merchandise in the order remains over $60. For orders under $60 we have three tiers of shipping as follows:
These changes were driven by two motivations. First, shipping charges increased dramatically this fall because the US Post Office stopped providing free $100 in insurance on Priority Mail Shipments. UPS charges also increased during the period of high fuel costs and haven't come down significantly as the fuel prices have fallen. Second, we want to make our shipping charges more fair based upon what it costs to ship an order via First Class Mail as opposed to Priority Mail as opposed to UPS. We hope to be able to continue to waive the shipping charges for orders more than $60, but we may be forced to increase the threshold for free shipping to $70 if the shipping prices continue to rise.
When Warren sent us pictures of his jewelry, we complemented him on the workmanship and asked him how long he had been working with wire. Our thought was that Warren had been making jewelry for years and just added the Olympus to his tool kit. We were very surprised to learn that Warren began making jewelry at Christmas. What is instructional here is how successful a newcomer can be making jewelry from the designs on our web site.

Design: With every newsletter
we provide a new jewelry design
from WigJig University
to spur the creative juices. In our last newsletter we mentioned
that we would be adding new designs for bails. Since the last
newsletter we have actually added three new bail designs. The
first two bail designs are round jewelry wire bail designs similar to
the round bail we had as our technique in our last newsletter. The
third new design is the design for our teardrop jewelry wire bail shown
at right. The teardrop jewelry wire bail is the new jewelry design
for this newsletter. This bail is made for hanging larger pendant
beads with either a side-to-side or a front-to-back hole.
The Teardrop Jewelry Wire Bail is made using 22 or 24 gauge soft wire and requires one of our WigJig tools with a 3/16" Super Peg and a regular metal peg. This is an advanced beginners to intermediate jewelry making project. As with most jewelry making projects, this is a project that will require a little practice. Try making the bail out of practice wire a couple of times before you graduate to using your good wire. We hope you like this design. To view our free instructions for how to make this Teardrop Jewelry Wire Bail select here, or select either picture above. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.
Jewelry Technique:
This project can be made on our WigJig Olympus, Olympus Lite or Electra
using a single regular metal peg for the jig.
It is suitable for advanced beginners to making jewelry. Anyone who is
comfortable
Warning! Joke Follows. If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke -- please skip the below paragraphs. It is not our intention to offend anyone! We don't write these jokes, we only re-tell jokes that we have heard on the public radio, television or over the Internet. Boomer Humor: A General notices that one of his troops is behaving strangely while part of a crew picking up trash on the parade ground. Unlike the other soldiers who pick up the trash and put it in the trash can, this soldier picks up a piece of trash, unfolds it, seems to read it, then says "That's not it." and throws the piece of trash back on the ground. After watching 15 minutes of this behavior, the General makes a call and arranges to have a psychological evaluation for that soldier. Ultimately, the psychologist decides that the soldier isn't suited for the Army and prepares his discharge papers. When the discharge papers are completed, the strange soldier picks up the discharge papers and says "That's it." Announcements: Shipping Policy.
