How to Unsubscribe: If you signed up for our newsletter and then decided you don't want to receive it any more, the proper way to unsubscribe is to select the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every newsletter e-mail or to follow our sign up link above. On that sign up page we also provide a way for people to unsubscribe.
New Products: We have introduced two new products in the past month. The new products are two new cutters. Our first new cutter is a re-introduction of our Economy Cutter - WigJig. We stopped selling that cutter because we did not want our name on the economy cutters that most vendors sell. Now we have redesigned the spring on the economy cutter so that we are happy with the finished product. You can view this new cutter in close-up and see how we have replaced the wire spring on the old economy cutter with a metal leaf. Our other new cutter is our Flush Cutter -- WigJig with Magic Spring. This is a premium quality cutter made of specially hardened steel. This cutter shown below right has a spring, but the spring is hidden within the handle so it can't be viewed. We believe that this adds to the life of the spring and the cutter.

Design: With every newsletter
we provide a new jewelry design
from WigJig University
to spur the creative juices. This week's new design is our
design for the Milwaukee Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings shown at left and
right. These earrings are called Milwaukee Earrings because we
perfected the design for the earrings at the Bead and Button Show in
Milwaukee in June. We make a lot of jewelry, and sometimes we just
run out of good, interesting names. In this case, the obvious name
for us was the place where we developed the design.
This is a beginners jewelry making project and used our WigJig Centaur or Cyclops. Making these earrings requires the making of a pair of jump rings, four spacer bars and a wire component on our WigJig tool, along with making four bead dangles. Because there are four possibly new skills, this is not a good choice as your first jewelry making project. If you have a little experience and feel comfortable making bead dangles, then this is a great and rather easy project to make. The design for the two earrings shown above requires making identical components on our WigJig tool, but assembles those components in a different manner, resulting in earrings that appear to be very different, but are made from identical wire components. |

Past Techniques: We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters. You can visit this web page here. Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.
Using the step jaw pliers requires a different approach to making a loop because the flat jaw of the step jaw pliers can interfere with making the loop. The technique that we use overcomes the problems of the flat jaw of the pliers getting in the way. Since we discussed the approach to making an open loop in our last newsletter and this new technique for making a wrapped loop is very similar, we won't elaborate on the technique other than to say "Please select here to view our free instructions for making consistent wrapped loops using step jaw pliers."
Warning! Joke Follows. If you have ever in your entire life been offended by any joke -- please skip the below paragraphs. It is not our intention to offend anyone! We don't write these jokes, we only re-tell jokes that we have heard on the public radio, television or over the Internet. Boomer Humor: A barber has decided to "Pay it Forward" and will be cutting hair for a week at no cost to the customers. The barber wants to do this as a sign of his devotion to his community. The first customer in his chair is the neighborhood farmer. The barber cuts the farmers hair and when the hair cut is completed the barber says "This haircut is on me. It won't cost you anything. Consider it my way of saying thank you for being part of our community." The farmer is very pleased and leaves happy. The next morning at the door of the barber shop, the farmer has left 10 tomatoes and 10 cucumbers with a note that says thank you for your charity. Later that day, the barber cuts the hair of the neighborhood baker. At the end of the haircut the barber says to the baker "This haircut is on me. It won't cost you anything. Consider it my way of saying thank you for being part of our community." The baker is pleased and leaves happy. The following morning at the barber shop is 10 loaves of fresh baked bread and a note that says thank you for your consideration from the baker. Later that day, the barber cuts the hair of a politician. At the end of the hair cut the barber says "This haircut is on me. It won't cost you anything. Consider it my way of saying thank you for being part of our community." The politician is pleased and leaves happy. The following morning 10 politicians are waiting in line at the barber shop. Sometimes humor is very close to reality. Boomer Philosophy on Global Warming: Let us summarize the data available on global warming. First, scientists have about 3,000 years of relatively accurate data about the average sea surface temperature in the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, Al Gore elected to use only about 120 years of data in making his conclusions. There is a body of scientific data that shows the average sea surface temperatures in the central Atlantic Ocean for the last 3,000 years is 23 degrees centigrade. Our peak for the average sea surface temperature in the Atlantic Ocean in the last 200 years is 22.8 degrees centigrade. We are, at this point, still about .2 degrees centigrade below the average sea surface temperature for the last 3,000 years. Sea surface temperatures in a large ocean like the Atlantic are considered to be a rather good indicator of the global average temperature and a good measure of global warming. The reason Al Gore's data is so wrong, is that the earth has been recovering from the "Little Ice Age" that ended about 1700. The Little Ice Age had the coldest global average temperature for the past 3,000 years of about 22 degrees centigrade. Is it any wonder that if the global climate is recovering from a period of intense cold that the temperature would rise steadily for the past 200 years? It shouldn't be.
By contrast the warmest period of average sea surface temperatures in the past 3,000 years occurred about 1000
years BC. At that time the average Atlantic sea surface temperature was 25 degrees
centigrade, about 2.2 degrees warmer than it is now. I wonder how many
coal fired power plants and cars they had 1,000 BC that caused that level of
global warming? Oh yeah, they had none. Announcements: Shipping Policy. We waive the shipping charge on orders over $60 shipped within the US (as long as these orders remain over $60).
