Large Links made with jewelry wire and beads for making the Large Links Bracelet

One other alternative configuration to discuss is to add beads to the necklace.  You can view how we recommend that you do this at right.  We recommend using 24 gauge round jewelry wire or 21 gauge 1/2 round jewelry wire to wrap a segment of wire to either side of the Large Loops link with the beads.  If you have 1/2 round jewelry wire that will work better.  If you don't 24 gauge round jewelry wire will work.    You can find our instructions for adding beads to a loop or jewelry wire here..

Making a Large Loops Bracelet with Beads:

Large Jewelry Wire Links Bracelet made with beads and common jewelry supplies. The following paragraphs provide our free instructions on how to make the Large Jewelry Wire Loops Bracelet with Beads shown at left.  This bracelet is made with links in three different sizes for the simple reason that the large links used for the necklace won't easily follow the curve of the wearer's wrist.  In essence, we have one large link, four medium links and two smaller links in this bracelet jewelry making project.  Our instructions for making this bracelet follow the instructions for making the Large Loops Necklace.  Please select here to view our free instructions for making the Large Loops Necklace out of jewelry wire, and beads using our WigJig jewelry tools.

Step-by-step instructions for making the Large Links Bracelet using WigJig jewelry tools, jewelry wire, beads and common jewelry supplies:

Step 1:  Cut one segment of 18 gauge soft jewelry wire 5" long, four segments 3 3/4" long, and two segments 3" long.

Step 2:  Using your fine step jaw pliers our your round nose pliers, make a 1/2 loop in each segment of jewelry wire.

Step 3:  Grasp the 1/2 loop in each segment of jewelry wire in turn and straighten the wire by pulling it repeatedly through the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers.

Step 4:  Position your pegs in your WigJig jewelry tool as shown above-right.  Pegs 1, 2, and 3 make the single large link in the center of the bracelet.  Pegs 2 and 3 are 1/2" Super Pegs.  Pegs 4, 5 and 6 make the four medium sized links for the bracelet.  Pegs 5 and 6 are 5/16" Super Pegs.  Pegs 7, 8 and 9 make the two smallest links.  Step 5 to instructions for making the Large Links Bracelet showing shaping jewelry wire on WigJig jewelry tools.Pegs 8 and 9 are 1/4" Super Pegs.

Step 5:  Wrap your wire around the pegs in the pattern on your WigJig jewelry tool as shown at right.  Make one large link, four medium links and two small links.

Step 6:  As we did in the first link for the necklace, we now need to use our nylon jaw pliers to grasp one of the loops and begin wrapping it closed.  Since we are using figure 8 connectors to connect the links in this bracelet, you can completely wrap both loops in these links closed for all but the very last link on one of the two small links.   As a review, you can view those steps below

Step 7 to instructions for making Large Jewelry Wire Links Bracelet with Beads showing close up of claspStep 7:  On the last small link, you will want to add your lobster clasp before you wrap that link closed.  After adding the clasp, then complete that link by wrapping it closed when you have completed, your last link and clasp should appear as shown at right.

Step 8:  When you have completed all seven links for the bracelet, you will need to make 18 figure 8 connectors out of 20 gauge jewelry wire.  Because you want all 18 connectors to be the same size, we made the initial loop on each figure 8 connector using the smallest step in our fine step jaw pliers, then we used our round nose pliers to make the second loop the same size as the first loop.  (You won't be able to use your step jaw pliers to make both loops, because the flat jaw will get in your way.)  For beginners, remember that you will need to cut the sharp end off the jewelry wire before you start making each new figure 8 connector.  Your goal is to have flush cuts on both ends of the jewelry wire of the figure 8 connector.

Step 9:  Now you are ready to begin assembly of the bracelet.  Use three figure 8 connectors between each link in the chain.  Using three helps to make the bracelet more stable and less likely to twist.  Our instructions for opening and closing connector loops can be found here.  You can add your beads either before or after you connect all the links in the bracelet..
